COLORADO VS. BOISE STATE PREDICTION
I don’t see Boise State’s tournament struggles ending tonight. Colorado’s win streak might be over, as they lost to Oregon in the PAC 12 championship, but this team is playing some great basketball at the end of the season. They’ve got two or three future NBA players on their roster. Boise State doesn’t have nearly as much talent as the Buffs…
Are Max Rice and Chibuzo Agbo going to be able to defend KJ Simpson? He is nearly unguardable already, and these two Boise guards don’t have quick enough feet to keep up with Colorado’s superstar. It’s not just KJ Simpson who the Broncos are going to have to worry about tonight. Colorado has one of the best shooting teams in college basketball. Compare their top-10 FG% to Boise’s 140th ranking in the country, and you’ve got the potential for a blowout.
The Buffs are also one of the best three-point shooting teams in the country. Boise defends the perimeter fairly well, but they are going to have their hands full in this contest. The Buffs also rank inside the top-20 in free-throw percentage. If Boise covers them too loosely, they will get exposed from deep, but if they play too physical and start fouling, the Buffs will beat them from the free-throw line.
There are too many ways that Colorado wins this game, and as much as I’d love to back the Broncos to win their first NCAA Tournament game tonight, I simply can’t back them against the surging Buffs. Colorado opened up a 2-point favorite, and have since been steamed up to -3.5 on some books. Lock them in before this spread gets any larger; I’ll meet you at the cash counter.
