There might not be any NCAA Tournament games tonight, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t college basketball games to bet on! There are some NIT games on today’s slate, but that’s not where I’m taking you. Let’s talk about the CBI matchup between Arkansas State and High Point…

Arkansas State vs. High Point Prediction
Both of these mid-majors had very solid seasons. High Point finished in first place in the Big South, but was unable to win their conference tournament (on their home floor). Arkansas State started off slow in the Sun Belt, but ripped off 10 wins in their last 13 games before CBI play. Both of these teams match up fairly well, both running similar at similar paces of play and both relying heavily on solid guard-play.
The best player on the floor tonight will be Duke Miles, but that doesn’t mean the Panthers are going to win this game. The Red Wolves are extremely athletic; their veteran guards will be able to keep up with Miles on the perimeter. I am not worried about Miles taking over this game; points will be harder to come by than the public is expecting in this matchup.
Arkansas State struggles to defend the perimeter, but it’s a good thing that High Point doesn’t rely on three-point shooting. The Panthers rank 199th in the country at three-point shooting. High Point likes to get to the rim and find success in the interior. They might struggle getting by these athletic Arkansas State guards on Tuesday…
More than 70% of the bets and 80% of the handle is currently backing High Point to cover against the Red Wolves tonight (per VSIN). With all these bets and money pouring-in on the Panthers, the spread has yet to budge. This is a great sign for Arkansas State backers, as the books are clearly fine with being overexposed on High Point tonight.
High Point entered the CBI as the No. 1 seed. They are one win away from a CBI championship. We’ve seen the Panthers fold when the lights are too bright already once this season when they couldn’t win their conference tournament on their home floor. I’m willing to bet High Point folds once again with the added pressure of the CBI semifinals kicking-in. Back Arkansas State to keep this game within the number; they played their best basketball at the end of the season and have a great matchup against Duke Miles and the Panthers.
