As we wait for the NCAA Tournament to resume on Thursday, we are stuck betting NIT and CBI games. Tonight, the CBI championship tips off at 5pm ET between Seattle and High Point. Which mid-major will finish their season on a high note?

High Point vs. Seattle Prediction

Don’t be fooled by these teams playing in the CBI, these are two very solid mid-majors. High Point finished first in the Big South this season, but the Panthers weren’t able to win their conference tournament. Seattle struggled at times this season, but Cameron Tyson is one of the best guards in the country. This will be an extremely competitive CBI championship game.

When the lines dropped for this game, Seattle opened up a +1 underdog on the spread. They were quickly steamed to a betting favorite. These teams have both played back-to-back days. The team who brings the most energy into the Championship game will have a significant edge. High Point looked like they were running on fumes at the end of their last game, barely pulling off a one-point victory against Arkansas State. Seattle has been destroying their opponents down the stretch. They looked full of energy even in the second half of their last game against Fairfield.

This game is going to come down to which star shines the brightest. Duke Miles has carried this High Point team all season, but he hasn’t looked as sharp in the CBI. Cameron Tyson, one the other hand, has outscored his season average in two of his three CBI games. Right now, I’m trusting Tyson with my money more than Miles.

The total in this game opened up at 151.5 for a reason. Even in a championship game with both teams coming off back-to-back games, oddsmakers are predicting plenty of points in this matchup. These two teams struggle defensively, hence why the total opened up so high. I’m going to give the advantage to Seattle in this spot with the total as high as it is; High Point hasn’t been able to slow down any offenses in the CBI, and Seattle’s defense has looked significantly better down the stretch. With both teams playing with tired legs for the third-straight day, I don’t see how the Panthers are going to slow down Cameron Tyson and the Redhawks.

High Point is 7-0-1 ATS as an underdog this season. That is a trend that simply cannot last. Fade this trend and back Seattle on the moneyline in this spot. High Point folded on their home floor during their conference tournament, and I’m expecting them to fold once again when the lights are brightest in the CBI Championship.
