Florida vs. Iowa Prediction
Iowa comes into this game with a very specific identity. The Hawkeyes want to slow everything down, limit possessions, and operate almost entirely in the half court. They are comfortable grinding games out and relying on Bennett Stirtz to create late in the shot clock. Stirtz has been outstanding, averaging nearly 20 points per game while carrying a heavy offensive load.
The problem in this matchup is that Iowa is extremely dependent on that style. If the Hawkeyes are forced to play faster than they want, their entire structure starts to break down. From a talent standpoint, this is not a deep roster, with only one other consistent double-digit scorer alongside Stirtz.
Defensively, Iowa has to create turnovers to stay competitive. Opponents shoot efficiently against them both inside and out, and without forcing mistakes, the Hawkeyes struggle to get stops. That becomes a major issue against a team like Florida.
Florida plays the exact opposite style. The Gators want to run, push tempo, and wear teams down physically over forty minutes. They rank near the top nationally in pace and combine that with elite rebounding on both ends of the floor. Florida grabs 43% of its own misses while limiting opponents to very few second chance opportunities.
That physical advantage is where this game tilts heavily. Iowa may be solid on the glass in most matchups, but Florida is built differently. With Alex Condon, Thomas Haugh, and Rueben Chinyelu anchoring the frontcourt, the Gators dominate the paint and consistently generate extra possessions.
Offensively, Florida does not rely on outside shooting. The Gators attack inside, move the ball through their bigs, and create high percentage looks around the rim. Even when the three point shot is not falling, they can control games through physicality and rebounding.
Defensively, Florida forces opponents into tough two point attempts and limits clean looks inside. Teams often have to rely on hot three point shooting to keep up, which is not a strength of this Iowa team.
This matchup comes down to pace and physicality. If Florida dictates tempo, Iowa will be forced into a game it does not want to play. Over the course of forty minutes, that should lead to fatigue, breakdowns, and a growing margin.
