The Mystics are still looking for their first win of the season. They welcome in the Chicago Sky for a matchup in Washington, DC on Thursday night. Will the Mystics earn their first win of the year against the struggling Sky?

Chicago Sky vs. Washington Mystics Prediction
The spread in this game opened up at 4.5. The Mystics have since caught some steam, and are now sitting at +3 on most books. Keep the points, we won’t be needing them tonight. The Mystics own the Sky, and have beaten them the last four times they’ve matched-up. I’m expecting much of the same on Thursday night…
Both of these teams aren’t great offensively, but the Sky rely heavily on Marina Mabrey. Ariel Atkins averages nearly two steals per game and is not only the Mystics best player, but best defender too. I’m fully expecting her to limit Mabrey’s offensive production on the road in this matchup.
The Mystics also have Shakira Austin down low, who should be a good enough paint presence to limit Angel Reese’s production. It’s also sort of a homecoming for Angel as she’s from the DMV. That’s a lot of pressure for her to show up in front of her friends and family on Thursday. With how poorly the Sky have played in recent weeks, I wouldn’t be surprised if the lights are too bright for Angel, Chennedy Carter, and the Sky at Capital One Arena.
It’s hard to lose nine games in a row. I’m sure the Mystics are fully aware that this streak has gone on far too long, and with the spread getting shorter and shorter as we get closer to tip-off I’m only feeling more confident as time goes on. Fade the Sky and back the Mystics to earn their first win of the season at home on Thursday. They match up well with the Sky and should be much hungrier for a win in tonight’s matchup.
