Ever since returning to Dana White's Contender Series last year, Joe Pyfer has become a popular figure amongst fight fans due to his vicious punching power and all-action style of fighting.
The 26-year-old can get a little wild, but it's during these skirmishes that he truly flourishes, usually landing a significant strike when an opponent is throwing back at him as we saw in his fight against Alen Amedovski at UFC Fight Night 210.
Meerschaert's striking is serviceable but he lacks the same sort of explosive one-punch knockout shot that Pyfer has. Expect the Pennsylvania-born scrapper to try and keep the fight standing so he can he utilize his striking and try and put Meerschaert away.
Gerald Meerschaert (35-15)
Gerald Meerschaert's game plan is a very simple, yet effective one that has worked for him throughout his career. The Roufusport product is happy to stand and strike with his opponents, but as soon as there's a chance for him to get the fight to the floor, he'll jump on the opportunity.
