Evloev presents one of the most difficult stylistic challenges available at featherweight. His wrestling does not need to produce immediate damage to be effective because he chains attempts together, forces opponents to continually defend and accumulates control as rounds progress.
Volkanovski may be uniquely equipped to solve that problem. His footwork and balance make it difficult for opponents to consistently trap him against the fence, while years of championship preparation have forced him to develop answers for virtually every phase of MMA.
Five-round experience is another important separator. Evloev has proven that he can maintain his wrestling deep into fights, but Volkanovski has spent much of his career operating in championship rounds against elite opponents and making adjustments as fights progress.
The striking gap also favors the champion. Evloev is more technically capable on the feet than his wrestling-heavy reputation suggests, but voluntarily spending prolonged stretches striking with Volkanovski creates a different level of risk.
Age remains the obvious concern. Volkanovski is 38 and faces an undefeated 32-year-old challenger whose physical pressure could become increasingly difficult to manage if the fight reaches the later rounds.
