Texas vs. Alabama Prediction
The Longhorns enter play ranked eleventh in the nation. This is the highest expectations have been for the Longhorns in a long time. Since 2009, Texas has had just one ten-win season. That is unacceptable for a program with as many resources and history as Texas
Quinn Ewers will be tasked with leading Texas to a double-digit winning season. Ewers is considered one of the best quarterbacks in the nation. Ewers was injured during Texas's week one game vs. Alabama a season ago. Ewers exited the game with a lead, but Alabama came back in the second half to win the game 20-19.
Texas lost the best running back in the nation as Bjian Robinson moved onto the NFL. The Longnhorn's rushing game was solid in week one, led by sophomore Jayden Blue, who rushed for fifty-five yards.
Xavier Wortht is the star wide receiver for this Texas program. Worthy had a breakout season in 2022 and feels he can be even better this year with Ewers. Worthy had seven catches for ninety yards in Week 1 against Rice.
The Texas defense was outstanding in week one, allowing just one hundred seventy-six yards while having two interceptions.
Alabama enters play ranked third in the nation. The Tide missed out on the playoffs a season ago, and despite finishing 11-2, that is disappointing under head coach Nick Saban.
Saban is one of the best coaches the college game has ever seen. He has six National Championships since taking over in 2007. Alabama has won ten games or more every season since 2008.
The Tide entered the season with question marks at the quarterback position. It was a three-person battle, but Saban gave the nod to sophomore Jalen Milroe. Milroe will have big shoes to fill after what Bryce Young did as a member of the Tide. Milroe threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Middle Tennessee. He also led the team in rushing with 48 yards.
Senior Jase McClellan is slated to be the lead back of this talented Alabama running room. McClellan rushed for 39 yards and one touchdown in Week 1.
Sophomore-wide, our Isaiah Bond led the way from a receiving standpoint. Bond caught five passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. Senior Jermaine Burton also had a touchdown catch and 62 yards receiving.
The Tide defense allowed just 211 yards and one touchdown. Freshman Caleb Downs led the team with eight tackles.
Texas vs. Alabama Pick
These are two top offenses in college football. Points will be scored in this game.
On the flip side, I do not see either one of these teams as elite defenses. Alabama has NFL players on the defensive side of the ball, but collectively, this defense is less strong than the ones we have seen in years past.
Quinn Ewers looked outstanding vs. Saban a season ago until he was injured. Ewers will enjoy similar success on Saturday night, forcing the Tide to play with pace and put up points.
Pick: Texas/Alabama over 55.5 -110 is currently the best odds. Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick
