7 minFlorida State vs. Wake Forest Prediction, Pick, Odds: Will Jordan Travis, Seminoles Take Care of Business?
We've got a noon ACC kickoff in Week 9 between the Florida State Seminoles and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
These two programs are trending in opposite directions, as the Seminoles rallied against Duke in Week 8, scoring three unanswered touchdowns in the fourth quarter behind quarterback Jordan Travis. Wake Forest has lost three of its last four games outright, bouncing back with a 21-17 win over Pitt at home in Week 8.
Believe it or not, Wake Forest has won three consecutive matchups against Florida State entering Saturday's game in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We've seen the Seminoles struggle in road games this season, requiring overtime to beat an uninspiring Clemson offense, while letting Boston College mount a late comeback effort that required all 60 minutes to escape with a win.
Will Travis and the Seminoles take care of business as 20-point road favorites? NCAAF handicapper Matt MacKay is here to share his latest prediction and pick for Florida State vs. Wake Forest.

Florida State vs. Wake Forest Prediction
A huge reason for the Demon Deacons being so competitive over recent years against Florida State was due to the presence of former quarterback, Sam Hartman, who is now QB1 at Notre Dame. In his absence, Wake Forest isn't nearly as threatening, but they do have a stout defense, holding opponents to 22.1 points per game, ranked 47th out of 133 FBS programs.
The Seminoles have struggled on the road this season and this will be only their third game not at home or on a neutral site. Two of Wake Forest's three losses have come on the road, so they definitely play better at home, however, the offense has been limited. The Seminoles are 5-2 ATS this season, managing to cover with a late surge against Duke in Week 8. Conversely, Wake Forest is 3-4 ATS, while going 2-5 on the point total line favoring the under.
Wake Forest hasn't lost at home by more than 14 points all season. We've seen Florida State struggle with early noon kickoff games in both of their road games this season. Plus Wake Forest, despite lacking Hartman at quarterback, are familiar with Travis and head coach Mike Norvell's scheme, which they've successfully contained in previous matchups.
It's going to be a sweat, but a 20-point spread is too big to place wagers on the Seminoles, so we're laying a unit on the Demon Deacons to cover a three-touchdown spread as home underdogs.
