Liberty goes on the road tonight with a perfect record of 7-0 but looked less than impressive in their last showing against a very weak Middle Tennessee State team. Can they put together a solid effort tonight on the road? Let’s break it down.

Liberty vs. Western Kentucky Prediction
Last week against Middle Tennessee State, Liberty got off to an extremely slow start as Liberty basically threw a pick-six on their first play of the game, and were playing from behind from the jump. This was a bit surprising as Middle Tennessee state had shown a little life on the season to this point and then went into Liberty and put up 35 points on them. The quarterback for Middle Tennessee State, Nicholas Vattiato, put up some solid numbers against the Flames as he totaled 348 total yards and four passing touchdowns.
This was one of his best games of the season to this point, and it came on the road against the supposed best team in the conference. Liberty ended up getting the win as they won by a touchdown by the score of 42 to 35 but it did expose them a bit as maybe their defense isn’t as stout as we had originally thought.
Another thing that is becoming a common theme with Liberty is starting off slow. We saw against Jacksonville State where they were tied at 10 at halftime and then followed that performance up by being tied at the half with Middle Tennessee State as an even bigger favorite. Liberty has also been dealing with a bit of a turnover issue on offense as they have turned the ball over in four games in a row with seven total turnovers in those games, so they are averaging just under two per game on this current four game stretch.
On the other side, Western Kentucky comes into this matchup after a tough and heartbreaking loss to Jacksonville state in which they were up 17 to 7 early in the second quarter, and did not score a single point after that as they lost by a final score of 20 to 17. While this was a tough loss as they were seven point favorites in that game, it did answer some questions about their defense, which played well in a bend don’t break type effort.
In Western Kentucky’s lone conference home game to this point, they held Middle Tennessee to just 10 points. The same MTSU offense that just lit up Liberty. College Football is a week to week league and any dog can have their day, but this WKU squad only has three losses. Two of which came by a field goal and the other came to top-ranked Ohio State.
I think this is a solid spot for the Hilltoppers to start fast and I expect a great effort out of them in the first half tonight. I also think this will be a much lower scoring game than some may anticipate due to Liberty’s high frequency of running the ball and their above average defense as well. I also always see home dogs play better defense in their own building too as I think this gives them a little added boost of protecting their home field. With that being said, I am rolling with Western Kentucky Kentucky first half +3 at -110 for 1.5 units, and the full game under 62.5 total points at -115 for 1 unit as two of my most confident college football plays of the day for tonight’s action.
