A few years ago, New Mexico State being bowl eligible seemed nearly impossible as they were one of the worst teams in the FBS on both sides of the ball. Fast forward to today and Jerry kill has somewhat revived this program as the Aggies find themselves with five wins already largely due to the sensational quarterback play of Diego Pavia.

New Mexico State vs. Louisiana Tech Prediction
Pavia has been one of the more consistent quarterbacks in the conference this season and has made a ton of plays both through the air and on the ground. His running ability is what makes him so dangerous as he is extremely elusive with breakaway speed. Pavia’s running ability has elevated this New Mexico state rushing attack to new heights.
The Aggies are currently ranked second in the country in yards per carry as they are averaging 6.1 yards per tote as a team this season. Overall, they have also been a very explosive offense as they are 6th in the country in yards per play. This is New Mexico State we are talking about and they are in the top 10 in the nation in rushing yards per carry and overall yards per play.
The New Mexico State passing attack has also been very explosive as they are ranked 21st in the country in yards per passing attempt (8.7). New Mexico State also gets a favorable matchup tonight against a Louisiana Tech team who has been dreadful stopping the run the season.
Louisiana Tech is ranked 111th in the country in yards allowed per carry as they are allowing their opponents to rush for 5.0 yards per tote. We watched Nebraska run for over 300 yards against this bulldog front seven and we also saw Middle Tennessee state and Western Kentucky, two teams who barely even run the ball with any effectiveness, also rush for 100 yards apiece against this Louisiana Tech defense.
Louisiana Tech has played a tougher schedule overall than New Mexico state, which may be the reason why they get a little more respect from the books, but this line simply does not make much sense to me. New Mexico state has shown way more of a pulse on both sides of the ball than Louisiana Tech to this point, and Louisiana Tech very well could have gotten blown out by both Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee State if they had kept her foot on the gas in the second half.
We saw a stout performance from the Aggies defense last time out against UTEP as they only allowed seven points and I think they will force a few turnovers tonight against a very inconsistent and turnover prone Louisiana Tech offense. With that being said, I am rolling with New Mexico State +3 at -106 for 2U as my most confident college football play of the day for tonight’s action, as I think the Aggies win straight up tonight behind a strong rushing attack.
