Cincinnati vs. Oklahoma State Prediction
Oklahoma State is one of the more fascinating teams in the country this season as it looked very early on that it was going to be a down year for them as they got blown out at home by South Alabama. They lost that game 33 -7 as their offense was extremely inconsistent and could not get anything going on that side of the ball. They have since rectified some of their offensive issues and at the moment are one of the hotter teams in the entire country as they are currently on a three-game winning streak over Kansas State, Kansas, and West Virginia, all of which came as underdogs.
Things change a bit for the Cowboys in this contest, as they find themselves a seven-to-seven-and-a-half-point home favorites against the Bearcats, who have been struggling as of late.
Cincinnati has been one of the worst red zone teams in the country as they typically rack up a lot of yards, but struggle to punch the ball in the end zone. It has not been a great transition for longtime college quarterback, Emory Jones, as the Cincinnati offense just has not clicked on all cylinders yet. While I am not sure if Cincinnati will rectify those red zone issues, I do think this is a good spot to fade the Cowboys as they are due for some negative regression after three quality wins in a row as underdogs.
They narrowly escaped Kansas, thanks to a huge fourth-quarter comeback as they were trailing for most of the second and third quarters of that game, and were basically handed the game by Kansas State when Will Howard threw a pick-six in the final minutes of the first half.
The Oklahoma State offense has really come alive in their last three contests as they scored 29, 39, and 49 points against Kansas State, Kansas, and West Virginia. While it is obvious the Cowboys have made some huge improvements and adjustments in their offense over the last month or so, I do not believe this is sustainable and I think they are in for some negative regression today against the Cincinnati squad who is in desperate need of some luck.
The betting narrative also shifts today as Oklahoma State has been an underdog for nearly every game of the season to this point and one of the few times they were a favorite against South Alabama at home with a very similar line is today, -7 1/2, they lost straight up in a blowout by a score of 33 to 7. I think this is the perfect spot for Cincinnati to play up to their competition in Stillwater and also a very good regression spot on the Cowboys. With that being said, I am rolling with CINCINNATI +7.5 at -110 for 1.5u as one of my most confident College Football Plays of the Day for tonight’s action.
