Colorado State vs. Wyoming Prediction, Pick Against the Spread, and Latest Odds

Wyoming got off to a very hot start to the season but have since cooled off a bit. How will they fare tonight against a Colorado State team with an explosive offense? Let's break it down.

Colorado State vs. Wyoming Prediction, Pick Against the Spread, and Latest Odds

Wyoming started this season with a bang as they took down Texas Tech at home as 14.5-point underdogs and also defeated a ranked Fresno State team at home as well. Wyoming has been a tough place to play for a lot of teams over the past few years, but Wyoming finds themselves in a peculiar position as favorites tonight.

Colorado State vs. Wyoming Prediction

So far on the season, Wyoming has been a home betting favorite in three games against Portland State, New Mexico, and Appalachian State. As 28.5-point favorites at home against a bad FCS Portland State team, Wyoming failed to cover the first half and the game as they were up 21-10 at the break and would go on to win 31-17. As three-point home favorites against Appalachian State, Wyoming was down 12-7 at halftime and needed a blocked FG return for a touchdown AND a two-point conversion in the final minutes just to push the spread as they ended up winning 22-19. This was an absolute fluke play which propelled Wyoming to a win in a game that was dominated by App State as the Mountaineers outgained the Cowboys 417 to 208.

Then as 14.5 point favorites against New Mexico, who is one of the WORST teams in the Mountain West this season, Wyoming was up just 12-9 at halftime and were also aided by another fluke blocked PAT returned for two points so it really should have been tied 10-10. Wyoming would go on to win the game by a score of 35-26 as they again failed to cover as a home favorite. This is a sustained trend that is constant with this Wyoming group as they simply have performed better as underdogs this season. As a betting underdog, the Cowboys are 4-1 ATS with two straight up wins over Fresno State and Texas Tech, and their lone non-cover came last week against Boise State as they lost 32-7.

This Wyoming group may be running out of gas after some extremely lucky wins, and they also find themselves in a spot tonight where they have not performed well as they are once again a betting favorite at home. They will face a Colorado State team who has been involved in some wild games, but the Colorado State offense has been very explosive at times.

The Rams do not run the ball very well, but they are explosive in the passing game as they have two NFL level talents on that side of the ball with Wide Receiver Tory Horton (99 yds/game) and Tight End Dallin Holker (78 yds/game). Colorado State's quarterback, Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, has made a lot of strides this season as he is averaging 310 passing yards per game and has not thrown an interception since mid-October.

I also mentioned earlier how Wyoming struggled at home as a betting favorite, but on the other side, Colorado State has done quite well as a ROAD UNDERDOG. On the road against Colorado earlier in the season, they were 24-point underdogs and led at halftime and probably should have won the game straight up, but they covered the spread easily as they lost 43-35 in OT. Against MTSU on the road, they were down 17-10 at half time before outscoring the Blue Raiders 21-6 in the second half as they won straight tup as 3.5-point dogs. In their only other game as a road underdog, they went into UNLV as 6.5-point favorites (same spread as tonight) they were up 13-3 at halftime and lost on a last second field goal by a score of 25-23, but they never trailed by more than six points.

Colorado State has performed well in spots like tonight and Wyoming has performed poorly in the same type of spot. This is also a revenge game for Colorado State as Wyoming went into their house last year and beat them 14-13.

I think the Rams play up tonight and have a great chance to keep this game close and potentially win straight up. With that being said, I am rolling with Colorado State 1H +3.5 at -110 for 1.5U as Colorado State Full Game +6.5 at -110 for 1U as my most confident college football plays of the day for tonight's action.
