Both Iowa and Michigan enter 3-0 ahead of a 3:30 PM ET kickoff on CBS. Iowa just rushed for 422 yards in a 55-0 win over Northern Iowa, while Michigan overcame a slow start to beat UTEP 52-17.
The matchup is priced like a classic Big Ten grinder, with Michigan favored by 5.5 and the total sitting at only 38.5. Neither team needs to play especially slowly for the Under to cash if red-zone possessions become field goals instead of touchdowns.

Michigan beat UTEP 52-17 after falling behind 14-7 in the second quarter. Underwood finished with 223 passing yards, while the Wolverines' defense allowed only three points after halftime and added a defensive touchdown.
Michigan has shown more offensive upside than Iowa, but the Wolverines have also had stretches of inconsistency. Against an Iowa defense built to eliminate explosive plays, sustaining touchdown drives becomes much more difficult.

The total has traded as low as 37.5 before returning to 38.5, creating a better entry point on the Under. DraftKings currently has a modest majority of tickets on the Over, while earlier money splits were substantially more favorable to the Under at the lower number.
Iowa has attracted overwhelming spread handle despite Michigan receiving more balanced moneyline support. That reinforces expectations for a tight, possession-heavy game rather than a Michigan runaway.

Iowa's rushing performance last week was spectacular, but Michigan presents a completely different challenge. The Wolverines have the size up front to prevent the Hawkeyes from living in second-and-short all afternoon.
That will force Brown to throw more often than he has needed to through three games. He has protected the ball perfectly, but Michigan's secondary can challenge windows that Northern Iowa simply could not.
Michigan has similar problems on offense. Underwood is immensely talented, but the Wolverines have not consistently generated efficient passing production, and Iowa is designed to make young quarterbacks take underneath completions rather than explosives.
The pace also favors the Under. Both teams are comfortable running on early downs, playing field position and trusting their defenses. There is little incentive for either side to suddenly increase tempo unless a two-score deficit develops.
Red-zone efficiency becomes the key variable. If drives stall inside the 30 and produce field goals, the total can stay Under even with both teams moving the ball reasonably well between the 20s.
The recent series history reinforces that style. Michigan has repeatedly shut Iowa down, and the Hawkeyes' defense is good enough to prevent this from becoming a one-sided offensive performance.
