That win followed dominant performances against ULM and Minnesota, giving Mississippi State three consecutive games with clear offensive production. Jeff Lebby's team is no longer simply an improving rebuild. It has already proven capable of winning an SEC road game.

Missouri's defense is the reason the Tigers can still stay close. Troy controlled possession and ran substantially more plays last week, yet Missouri did not allow a second-half point. That type of situational defense is useful when backing an underdog.
The concern is Missouri's offense. Simmons cannot finish with 91 passing yards again and expect the Tigers to stay within one score. Missouri needs more first-down production and more sustained drives to keep Taylor off the field.
