Week 9 DFS Picks and Guide: Top DraftKings Targets and Value Plays

When building a winning DraftKings DFS lineup, it is essential for you to find underpriced players to pair with some top options for the main slate.

Each week, I will help you find those underpriced players at each position (QB, RB, WR, TE, DST) for you to insert into your DFS lineups. This will allow you to fill your remaining lineup with high-priced players.

Use the players I list below to achieve your winning lineup this week!

Week 9 DraftKings Value Plays

Quarterback

Tyrod Taylor, Houston Texans ($5,000) @ Miami Dolphins

Tyrod Taylor will finally return to action in Week 9 after missing the last 6 games due to a hamstring injury. Taylor threw for 416 yards and 3 touchdowns in his 2 games this year. He added another 55 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown.

The Miami Dolphins have given up the 4th most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. They have allowed a quarterback to throw multiple touchdown passes in 6 of 8 games this year. The Dolphins just allowed Josh Allen to run for 55 yards and a touchdown last week. Tyrod Taylor’s running ability will give you a safe floor to pair with his passing upside.

Plus, you can’t argue with the bottom-dollar pricing for a guy with a favorable matchup who’s been itching to get back on the field for 6 weeks.

Alternate Week 9 QB Value

  • Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers ($4,400) @ Kansas City Chiefs

Running Back

Boston Scott, Philadelphia Eagles ($5,200) vs Los Angeles Chargers

Boston Scott is coming off his best game of 2021. With Miles Sanders sidelined, he and Jordan Howard were a combined powerhouse in Philadelphia’s backfield. Scott led the Eagles’ running backs in production with 60 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Los Angeles Chargers have been very good defending the pass this year. They have given up the 5th fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks and 2nd fewest points to wide receivers. The

Chargers defense held Dak Prescott, Lamar Jackson, and Mac Jones to under 240 passing yards each, and the 3 combined for 1 passing touchdown and 3 interceptions.

The running game worked so well for the Eagles in their 44-6 victory over the Lions in Week 8. You can fully expect them to heavily utilize Boston Scott, Jordan Howard, and Kenneth Gainwell against the defense that has allowed the 5th most fantasy points to running backs this year.

Alternate Week 9 RB Value

  • Jordan Howard, Philadelphia Eagles ($4,600) vs Los Angeles Chargers

Wide Receiver

Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans ($6,100) @ Miami Dolphins

It’s time to stack! This week, I recommend you stack Brandin Cooks with Tyrod Taylor for an amazing discount. As anxious as Tyrod Taylor is to return as the Texans’ starting quarterback, Cooks is equally excited to have him back. Brandin Cooks had his best-receiving yard total with Taylor throwing to him in Week 1 (7 targets, 5 catches, 132 receiving yards).

Cooks has been one of the safest options in fantasy football this year. His volume has been outstanding. He has 70 targets, which is good for 8th best among wide receivers. He’s 4th best in receptions with 51. Cooks is top-10 in receiving yards with 585 on the year.

His matchup is too good not to play him in your DFS lineups. The Miami Dolphins have given up the 3rd most fantasy points to wide receivers. They have allowed a wide receiver to go over 100 receiving yards 4 times in the last 4 games. Wide receivers have a total of 12 touchdown receptions against the Dolphins through 8 games.

Alternate Week 9 WR Value

  • DeVante Parker, Miami Dolphins ($5,300) vs Houston Texans

Tight End

Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles ($4,500) vs Los Angeles Chargers

As good as the Chargers have been defending quarterbacks and wide receivers, they have given up a bunch of fantasy points to running backs and the 2nd most fantasy points to tight ends.

Even in a game where Jalen Hurts completed just 9 passes and threw for just 103 yards, Dallas Goedert caught 6 passes (66.6% of Hurts’ completions) for 72 yards (69.9% of Hurts’ passing yards). It’s clear, Goedert has been Jalen Hurts’ most effective option the last 2 games.

Even if the Eagles primarily run the ball this weekend, they will still throw the ball enough to make Goedert a great play at a discount. He doesn’t have to do much to give you a top-5 performance at the position. He was the TE4 last week and didn’t even score a touchdown.

Alternate Week 9 TE Value

  • Jared Cook, Los Angeles Chargers ($3,300) @ Philadelphia Eagles

Defense/Special Teams

Buffalo Bills Defense/ Special Teams ($4,000) @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Week 9 is a great week to spend up for a defense. The Buffalo Bills are arguably the best defense in the NFL. They have 16 sacks, 11 interceptions, 7 fumble recoveries, and a touchdown through 7 games.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have given up the 4th most fantasy points to opposing defenses. Trevor Lawrence is tied for 2nd with 9 interceptions on the season. The Bills give up the fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks. It’s going to be a rough day for the Jaguars’ offense, especially if James Robinson does not play.

The Buffalo Bills will be the best option at defense this week.

Alternate Week 9 D/ST Value

  • Cincinnati Bengals Defense/ Special Teams ($2,900) vs Cleveland Browns
