4 Minute ReadWho will the New York Jets Draft with the Second Overall Pick?
The Jets appear almost certain to go defense at No. 2 overall, and more specifically, they look focused on an edge rusher. That has turned this market into a near two-man race between Arvell Reese (-120) and David Bailey (+100), with the rest of the board sitting at true longshot prices. The betting says the debate is no longer about position. It is about which type of pass-rusher New York values more.
That makes sense for a team coming off a season in which the defense allowed 29.6 points per game, second-worst in the league. Reese has been the slight favorite because of his versatility and explosive traits, but Bailey remains right there because of his more polished sack production and pure edge profile. With the NFL Draft almost here, this looks like one of the clearest either-or decisions at the top of the board.

Arvell Reese (-120) Check out these best odds at FanDuel Sportsbook
Reese has become the betting favorite because he offers more than a traditional edge-only projection. He measured at 6-foot-4 and 243 pounds, ran a 4.46-second 40 at the combine, and finished the 2025 season at Ohio State with 69 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks while playing multiple roles in one of the nation’s best defenses. He is the kind of player who can line up off the ball, rush from the edge, spy quarterbacks, and close fast in the run game.
The biggest piece of draft buzz also leans his way. League chatter this week has pointed to the Jets deciding between Reese and Bailey for a while, but multiple connected voices now believe the team has shifted toward Reese, especially after Bailey’s planned Jets visit was canceled. That does not make this over, but it explains why Reese has moved into favorite territory. If the Jets want the more versatile chess piece with rare movement skills, he is the logical pick.
David Bailey (+100) Check out these best odds at DraftKings Sportsbook
Bailey has the stronger pure pass-rush résumé, which is why he is still live at plus money. The Texas Tech edge checked in at 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds and posted a huge 2025 season with 52 total tackles and 14.5 sacks after producing 7 sacks in 2024 and 5 in 2023. He is the cleaner traditional edge prospect of the two, and for teams that want immediate disruption off the corner, his production is hard to ignore.
There is still real media support for Bailey at No. 2. Some final mocks and draft analysts continue to project him to the Jets, arguing that his edge profile is more straightforward and that his upside as a true QB hunter may be easier to plug into an NFL front right away. But the canceled visit and the recent buzz toward Reese are the biggest reasons Bailey now sits just behind him in the market. If the Jets prioritize polish and sack totals over versatility, Bailey can still absolutely be the pick.
