ANALYSIS

Seattle Seahawks vs. Chicago Bears Odds, Pick, Prediction: Can Justin Fields Carry Bears?

The MLB slate is not great for pitcher strikeout props so we need to pivot. Luckily, the NFL is on tonight and it's on ESPN. Feels like that's the move. The haters are going to say it's dumb to bet the NFL Preseason but like always, you'd be an idiot for listening to a hater. They never have anything nice to say and I doubt they ever have any fun in life. They're literally the worst kind of person but I don't hate them because I don't want to stoop to their level. That's just how levels work.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Chicago Bears Prediction

There is absolutely nothing wrong with betting the preseason. Everyone knows that. In fact, it's the one time where we can get a full, pure, "I don't know what to expect" game from the NFL. Like seriously, we have no clue what's going to happen tonight. Why would we not bet that? Lucky for us, I don't fall for the influence of the haters. I've gone over and over everything there is to go over with this game and I think there's only one way to play it. In fact, every mental simulation has lead me to only one play for this game. There is legit, no chance this bet loses.

We're at FanDuel for this one but it looks like the line is available everywhere but for a slightly higher price than what FanDuel is offering. Both DraftKings and BetMGM have 39.5 (-110). That's not the biggest difference but it's still more expensive so if you can play at FanDuel, you might as well. It should be noted that BetMGM not only looks different now but they've also removed the "fun bets" from their NFL Preseason menu. Everything exotic (both teams to score 10+ first half, etc) is now gone which isn't great. Just straight up missionary over there from now on it looks like.

Look here, I get that we're talking about preseason football, the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks. None of those things screams "over" but sometimes you have to ignore the screams and listen to the whispers. Honestly, I don't even know what that means but everyone can agree that it sounds legit. Profound even. The thing is 40 points isn't a lot in an NFL game these days so we can start there. On top of that, teams are scoring in the preseason so far. Will that keep up? Who knows? But getting behind this over isn't the dumbest thing we can do with our money tonight.

For starters, the Chicago Bears are not that bad at the quarterback position. Justin Fields probably won't play much but Trevor Siemian used to be a starter in the league and he didn't look bad last week. We're talking about a guy who threw two touchdowns in 13 pass attempts here people. When he leaves, we'll see Nathan Peterman who could easily throw a touchdown to his team or to the Seahawks. We'll take points any way we can get them and the Bears hung 19 in the first week of the preseason. They have a reasonable shot at 20+ tonight which would be sweet.

On the other side, the Seahawks don't have the greatest quarterback room but Geno Smith didn't look horrible last week. He threw for 101 yards and ran for a touchdown. I'll take that. Drew Lock has Covid which isn't great for him (get well soon Lock) so that means it will be only Smith and Jacob Eason. Eason hasn't really done much in the NFL but he made me some coin at both Washington and Georgia so there is that. As a team these guys just put up 25 point against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.

At the end of the day, I think this will end up being a run of the mill preseason game that comes down to a fourth quarter where we'll have a couple shots at the over. Who will score is anyone's guess and the game will be sloppy. But still, it's football and quality, sweaty covers don't care if it's preseason. I think we're good with the over.
