Slop's Early Best Bet for NFL Week 1: Bears vs. 49ers

Week One of the 2022 NFL Season is almost here and while we wait, I think it would be a good idea to gamble. It just makes sense. The thing is, the lines for Week One are already up. They have been for weeks. But now, we're starting to see things like team totals. Soon there will be player props. We're pretty much back people. Lucky for us, I've already gone through and taken a look at the numbers. All of them. Especially the team totals. Those are the easiest ones to hit early in the season. Everyone knows that. The books haven't seen these teams and neither have we. We're pretty much on a level playing field (kind of). The way I see it, we should probably attack that market. Feels right.

We're at DraftKings for this one because I don't see any team totals anywhere else. Not at FanDuel, not at BetMGM, no where. Still, it's fine because all we need is one place to bet and we have one with DraftKings. Plus, I really don't think the others will be able to beat this number and price so there's that too. One thing I should note is the fact that DraftKings is offering Over 1.5 team touchdowns for Chicago at -125. That might be worth looking into. I'm still thinking about whether or not that is good. I think it is.

I love the team totals in the NFL and I will likely stay in that market all season long. It's just glorious. Don't get me wrong, player props are home and will probably always be home but team totals are just as fun. Sometimes it's nice to cheer for a touchdown while also not caring who scored it. That's definitely a thing. And wait until it's a kick/punt return or even an interception that cashes it. That's called magic people. It's surreal.

Now everybody is saying that the Chicago Bears are going to stink this season and those people are probably right. Look at their roster. Not great. Plus they have a new coach and Justin Fields is still pretty much a rookie at this point. But once you forget about all that, this looks good. The thing is, 16.5 points is just not a lot in the NFL. Chicago went over that in every game of the preseason. I get that it was preseason but that happened. People forget that Matt Nagy took his high school offense with him when he left. The Bears run an actual NFL offense now.

The haters are going to say the 49ers have a good defense and they are not wrong. But as usual, they are just leaving stuff out. For starters, in Week One last season these Niners gave up 33 points to our Detroit Lions. In fact, they gave up at least 17 points in all but two road games last year. That includes the Halloween game in Chicago where these Bears dropped 22 on them. I'm not saying the Bears will win this game or even cover, I'm just saying that it's hard to imagine them NOT scoring at least 17 points. Feels right.
