The real pressure officially begins for two quarterbacks this weekend on the field in Chicago as the Trey Lance and Justin Fields eras begin in their respective cities. For Fields, a rookie year of injury and uncertainty on the depth chart is over, as the team is now his for better or worse.
While the Ohio State product might have some leniency in Chicago, Lance doesn’t quite have the same as the 49ers have also now retained Jimmy G to be his backup waiting in the wings should he play poorly to start the season.
With storylines abound, let’s take a closer look at three picks for a same-game parlay I have cooked up for Sunday’s action in the Windy City.

Chicago Bears vs San Francisco 49ers Same-Game Parlay
SF 49ers -6.5 (-125)
Throwing just 71 passes in a rookie season in which he sat behind Jimmy G, Lance will get the start in week one as the staff and team around have continued to spew confidence. Luckily for Lance, he’ll get his debut against a Bears defense littered with holes, and with a massive edge in the offensive coaching box in coach Kyle Shannahan.
One of the reasons the 49ers likely feel confident in the choice is Lance’s mobility, an increasing need in today’s NFL and one that should suit the team well against this Bears team. With one of the best defenses in the league behind him as well as All-Pro Deebo Samuel, look for Lance to settle in early here and handle this Bears team with relative ease.
Anytime Touchdown Scorer - Brandon Aiyuk (+245)
While Samuel will get all the attention from CB1’s all season long, I think Arizona State product Brandon Aiyuk could be in for a sneaky stellar season. Despite being injured throughout his first two seasons, Aiyuk has still amassed 1,574 yards and 10 touchdowns to this point, and as one of the fastest slot guys in the league, should be a secret weapon for Lance all season.
Add in the fact we’ll also see Aiyuk in special teams opportunities, and I like the value he provides in finding the endzone at nearly 3 to 1 odds.
Bears Total Points - Under 14.5 (+115)
Holding opponents to just 322 yards per game last season, the 49ers' defense returns fully stocked in 2022 to put up similar numbers. They especially excelled against the run, holding opposing backs to just 71.3 yards per game to trail only the Rams in the NFC.
With much of their front seven pack for 2022, the 49ers are likely to be even better this season, which should force Fields to make plays throughout the day. From what I saw last season and with the lack of talent around, I expect that to be an uphill battle for the second-year gunslinger.
