The Detroit Lions struggled in Dan Campbell's first year as head coach. However, towards the end of the season, the Lions started responding to his coaching and made solid strides. Detroit hopes they'll ride last year's momentum into a home game against the Philadelphia Eagles this year. The Eagles are projected to win the NFC East by many analysts.

Detroit Lions vs. Philadelphia Eagles Prediction
Last year, the Eagles destroyed the Lions 44-6. I feel we won't see that kind of score this year.
The Lions hope the passing game can grow after last year's struggles. Jared Goff has a solid amount of underrated targets to throw the ball to. But he'll need better pass protection this year from his offensive line if he wants to improve his numbers this season. That's going to be difficult knowing that the Eagles have one of the best pass rushes in the NFL. The defense made a lot of tackles last season and was very effective in the pass rush.
The rushing defense was a problem for the Eagles last year. Therefore, DeAndre Swift could have a good game. However, if the Lions fall early, the run game will be abandoned.
On the other hand, Jalen Hurts will start under center for the Eagles. Miles Sanders will be available at running back along with Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott. His receivers are better with A.J. Brown on the team along with DeVonta Smith. Plus, the Eagles have one of the best offensive lines in football. Last year, they dominated blocking in the run game, and the pass protection was good enough. Jalen Hurts can escape pressure and create on his own. So the Eagles can earn more yards on breakdowns in protection.
Meanwhile, the Lions were horrendous in coverage, couldn't stop the run, and missed many tackles last season. Maybe things will be better this year, but until I see things get better, I'm not going to believe it. I've got the Eagles covering the spread and believe they'll win by multiple scores.
