Tennessee Titans vs. New York Giants Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can the Giants Earn an Upset on the Road?

The Giants open their season on the road against the defending AFC South champion Tennessee Titans. With two of the best running backs in the NFL on each side will this be a low-scoring affair? Handicapper Jason Radowitz breaks it down here.

Tennessee Titans vs. New York Giants Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can the Giants Earn an Upset on the Road?

The Tennessee Titans seem to be in rebuild mode. The Titans elected to trade away A.J. Brown in a deal that allowed them to draft Treylon Burks in the NFL Draft. However, Treylon Burks isn't listed as a starting wide receiver for the Titans coming into Week 1. You'd have to imagine that we'll see a heavy dosage of Derrick Henry in their home game against the New York Giants.

Meanwhile, the Giants hope we can see a heavy dosage of Saquon Barkley. Barkley has all the tools to be a monster in the NFL, but injuries have kept him off the field. If the Giants can get production out of Barkley, will New York earn an upset on the road? Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Sunday's game between the New York Giants vs. Tennessee Titans.

Tennessee Titans vs. New York Giants Prediction

The New York Giants have much to improve on this season under new head coach Brian Daboll. It seems like the Giants have the right guy as head coach, but it'll undoubtedly take some time for this team to see some growth.

As mentioned above, the Giants will want to get the run game going early with Barkley. If there was one area where the Titans struggled last year on the defensive end, it was the rushing defense. The Giants weren't entirely wrong with run blocking. It was mainly the pass protection that broke down. New York should be able to get the run game going early, opening things up offensively.

On the other hand, the Giants were even worse against the run defensively. Now they'll have to take on Derrick Henry of the Titans. Henry is one of the best running backs in football and like Barkley, will start the season healthy.

Tennessee no longer has a significant threat in the passing game like A.J. Brown or Julio Jones. Instead, their pass catchers are Robert Woods and Nick Westbrook. Treylon Burks will get involved in the passing game, but his snap count is a mystery right now.

The Giants were disciplined last year regarding tackling, and the pass rush was at least a little effective. Meanwhile, Tennessee was not good in pass protection either. That was the only area where the Titans struggled last year on the offensive end.

We've got ineffective pass protections and two teams that should ultimately run the ball more than anything in today's game. Therefore, I'll ride the under 44 in this one. Let's watch the clock run out fast!
