San Francisco 49ers vs. Los Angeles Rams Prediction
The Rams entered the season as the defending Super Bowl champions, and they will have their sights set on being a Super Bowl champion yet again this year. Los Angeles came into the year as the favorites to come out of the NFC West, and they remain the favorites as we approach the end of week four. The Rams were aggressive last year and went all in. The moves that they made certainly paid off, including bringing in future hall of fame signal caller Matthew Stafford.
They were able to surround Stafford with a ton of talent and get hot at the right time. The 49ers came into the year slated to be a playoff team once again. This has been a successful team over the past seasons. Last year they reached the NFC Championship game after pulling off upsets in the first two rounds when they beat the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. They were led by Jimmy Garoppolo last year, and this season, it appeared that Trey Lance would lead them.
The 49ers made the decision to hand the keys to Lance in the off-season, and it appeared they would move on from Jimmy G. To the surprise of many, Jimmy stayed with the 49ers, and they have to feel lucky that he did after Lance went down with a season-ending injury in week two.
I am all over Jimmy G and the 49ers tonight. Let’s start with this the 49ers have owned the Rams in the regular season during the Jimmy G and Kyle Shannahan era. The last time that the 49ers lost in the regular season at home to the Rams, you have to date all the way back to October 21st, 2018. The 49ers starting QB for that game was CJ Bethard.
Shannahan has dominated Sean Mcvay in head-to-head matchups, and for whatever reason, he has had the Rams' number. I love this San Francisco defense, and I think they are a top-three defense in the league. They have been outstanding against the run, and I believe that they shut down the run tonight and make the Rams one-dimensional on offense. I expect the 49ers to control the time of possession game and be able to do enough offensively to skate by the Rams tonight.
Lastly, the Rams are a heavy public dog, and after the public ate on Sunday, I think that ends tonight.
