Chiefs vs. Raiders Prediction

The Las Vegas Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs will clash from Arrowhead on Monday night for this AFC West showdown. The Raiders enter play with a record of 1-3, while Kansas City comes in 3-1.

Las Vegas was able to get their first win of the season last week when they got past Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos. The Raiders feel that they are a much better team than their record indicates, as they have lost three games this season by just one possession. Lucky for the Raiders, it is early in the season, and there is a way to turn things around. That way would include needing wins like tonight on the road.

Kansas City made some moves in the off-season that people questioned, including trading All-Pro wideout Tyreek Hill. Hill and Mahomes made up for one of the most lethal duos in the league, and the trade came as a shock to many around the league. Despite the trade, this Kansas City offense has not skipped a beat, and they have looked in rhythm all season long. Kansas City looks like they are a team that once again will be competing for a Super Bowl come the winter. Kansas City enters play as a seven or seven-and-a-half-point favorite, depending on the sportsbook. 

I will be backing the Raiders on the 7.5-point spread tonight. This is a Raiders team that is way better than that 1-3 record shows. I believe they have a top-ten offense in the NFL and that they can score enough points to stay within the number tonight. Patrick Mahomes has not been good in his career, laying more than a field goal. Mahomes is just 12-20 ATS since 2020 when laying more than a field goal.

I also believe some people are overrating this Chiefs defense. I do believe that they are much improved against the run, but being the number one rushing defense in the league is skewed due to the Tampa game. They rank 27th against the pass, and facing a team like the Raiders, who do most of their damage via the pass should mean good things for the Raiders tonight.
