With a 37-15 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 5, the 49ers increased their record to 3-2, sending Panthers coach Matt Rhule packing in the process. RB Jeff Wilson recorded 120 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 attempts, while Jimmy Garoppolo threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns. In the NFC West, the 49ers now hold the top spot after their sluggish start.
Only 261 total yards of offense were generated by the Falcons against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers the last time we saw them on the field. After falling behind 21-0, they scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, but the Bucs were able to stall the clock after the Falcons scored their final point.
Let’s take a closer look at three guys I expect to make an impact this week.

With just 926 yards through the air in five games, it’s safe to say Mariota is largely what we thought he was. His four touchdowns to four interceptions also haven’t inspired much confidence.
His legs, however, continue to be a threat, as he comes into this game averaging 31.2 yards on the ground per game. He also has two touchdowns on the ground. Now facing a 49ers defense that will surely look to get after him, look for Mariota to be on the move early and often and get around the corner at least once. If he can get downfield, I like for Mariota to sneak one in before all is said and done.

While no one was rooting for second-year quarterback Trey Lance to miss time, it very well could’ve been the blessing in disguise this 49ers team needed. Stepping into his old role, QB Jimmy Garoppolo has this team humming a long, and now just needs to get his reliable tight end more into the mix.
Battling injury for much of the season to this point, George Kittle turned in his best performance of the year to date last week with five receptions for 47 yards. He has not, however, yet found pay dirt. I expect that to change this week as the veteran TE finds the end zone once and for all.

Averaging 13.3 yards per catch this season, Samuel has been another beneficiary of Garoppolo’s return this season. After a slow start to the season, Samuel has picked up a touchdown in each of his past two games, and now draws a Falcons defense that has been gashed to start the year.
Ranking #29 of 32 teams, the Falcons are allowing 278.2 yards per game through the air, and I look for another big game here from Deebo.
