Denver has been one of the more disappointing teams in the league so far due to their lack of offense. Denver made a blockbuster trade for Russell Wilson in the offseason. The move at the time had Denver fans excited and thinking they could be a Super Bowl contender. They have looked like anything but that through the first five weeks. The one bright spot has been the defense for Denver. Denver was a top-ten defense last year, and they appear to be one again this season. The only reason that Denver has the couple of wins that they do is because of their defense.
The Chargers came into this year with high expectations around them, and for a good reason. Entering the year, the Chargers had one of the best rosters in football, headlined by Justin Herbert. Unfortunately for the Chargers, injuries have got them early and at some key positions. Keenan Allen has struggled to stay healthy along with Joey Bosa. Justin Herbert has also had to battle through some early-season injuries. When this team is healthy, however, they could be one of the best teams in football. The Chargers enter this game representing a record of 3-2. With a win tonight, the Chargers would tie the Chiefs for first place in the AFC West.Â
I am backing Russ and the Broncos tonight. I understand people are a bit skittish to bet on Wilson right now, but I am confident he will turn things around as the season progresses. You do not just forget how to play football, and Russ is simply too talented to continue to play as poorly as he has. Denver has a top-five defense in my eyes, and I think that they will limit the production of Justin Herbert and company tonight. If they can hold down the production of the Chargers, Denver will be able to stay within this number. We will ride Mr. Unlimited and the Broncos tonight. Let’s stay hot!Â
