Atlanta Falcons vs. Los Angeles Chargers Prediction

The Atlanta Falcons are in first place in the NFC South after a miracle win against the Carolina Panthers last week.

The Falcons have scored 25 points per game while averaging 337.1 yards per game. They've been led by Marcus Mariota, who has earned ten touchdown passes with six interceptions. He has also rushed for three touchdowns and is averaging 5.1 yards per rush this season.

The Falcons have a lot of talent offensively. But they don't use it. Drake London and Kyle Pitts are two significant threats in the passing game. But those two, again, are getting very inconsistent targets. The Falcons have looked good in the run game with Caleb Huntley and Tyler Allgeier. Both ended up rushing 30 times combined last week. Allgeier had three catches for 46 yards and a touchdown and is more of a threat in the passing game.

On defense, the Falcons have given up 427 yards per game with 25.6 points per game. The defense has been very average this season. They've at least held teams to 108.9 yards per game on the ground, which isn't bad.

On the other hand, the Chargers have been dealing with so many injuries this season. Because of that, the offense and defense have been inconsistent. The offense is scoring 23.4 points per game with 375.9 yards.

Justin Herbert has thrown for over 2,000 yards and has 12 touchdowns with four interceptions. He's been good. But earlier in the year, he didn't have Keenan Allen. Then he got hurt. Now he won't have Mike Williams. He's had to play without Joshua Palmer. I mean, the injury woes just haven't stopped. But the Chargers are still 4-3 and in playoff contention. That's because of Herbert's play.

On defense, the Chargers have allowed 375.6 yards per game. They've also allowed nearly 140 yards on the ground. Los Angeles has struggled to tackle and isn't great against the run. The pass rush is the most compelling portion of the defense, and that's helped them hold teams to 238 yards per game in the air. But until the Chargers get fully healthy, it's hard to expect greatness from them. Atlanta's got a ton of great playmakers. The Falcons have to figure out ways to get them the ball. I have faith.

Grab the Falcons at +3 at home.
