Las Vegas Raiders vs. New England Patriots Prediction
The Raiders have turned in a disappointing season, and they are coming off what has become a typical Raiders loss last Thursday. The Raiders led the Rams 16-3 with less than three minutes to go in the game. The game looked wrapped up, but in typical Raiders fashion, they ended up losing the game 17-16. What made it worse was they lost to Baker Mayfield, who was making his first start as a Ram and did not even know the playbook.
That has, unfortunately, been the narrative all season for the Raiders, who have lost seven games this season by one score. They are 5-8 overall, and they would need a miracle to make the playoffs at this point in the year.
New England comes into play with a lot more to play for. The Patriots currently hold the final spot in the playoffs via the wildcard representing a record of 7-6. The Patriots do not play a pretty brand of football, but they play an effective brand. This is a team that is built on their defense and running the football, and so far this season, it has been enough to put them in the playoffs.
Mac Jones has run the offense for the majority of the year, and his play has been very up and down. The real criticism has been the play-calling for the Pats. Mac Jones has visibly been frustrated by their game plans at times this year, and it will be interesting to see how they attack this Raiders defense today.
I am backing the Raiders on the money line here today. I simply do not think that the Patriot's offense can keep pace with the Raiders' offense. New England is the best-worst team in football if that makes sense. I think they are overrated, even on the defensive side of the football. Look at the quarterbacks that they beat this year. The only decent QB that the Pats knocked off was Jared Goff. Outside of Goff, it has been a lot of below-average quarterbacks.
I think that Derick Carr will have his way this afternoon, and on the other side of things, I do not think the Patriots have the firepower to keep pace. Let’s keep things rolling and cash in today!
