ANALYSIS

Washington Commanders vs. New York Giants Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Daniel Jones Show Up on SNF?

The Commanders and Giants are surprisingly tied for last place in the NFC East with 7-5-1 records. The NFC East has been no cakewalk this season, as the bottom two teams have better records than the NFC South division leader, the Buccaneers. Still, both teams are in the playoff hunt, which is crazy to say when they are tied for last in their division. That means this game means a lot late in the season. With so much on the line, what can we expect tonight? Let's break it down my picks, predictions, and odds.

Washington Commanders vs. New York Giants Prediction

For Giants fans, tonight could spell trouble based on the past. Daniel Jones is the only quarterback to be winless in primetime (minimum four starts) over the last 20 years. Jones is 0-9 straight up and 4-5 against the spread in his career in primetime, so he will be looking to snap that streak tonight against a divisional rival. On the other hand, Taylor Heinicke, the Commander's quarterback, has been one of the most profitable quarterbacks since 2021. Heinicke is the third-most profitable quarterback with an 11-3-1 against the spread record. Of course, these trends are never something you should base a bet entirely on, and we're not because I like a specific prop in this spot.

In the first matchup against the Commanders this season, Jones broke off 12 rushing attempts for 71 yards, averaging 5.9 yards per carry. In the head-to-head meeting before that, Jones had nine rushes for 95 yards. Quarterback rushing has been somewhat of a soft spot for the Commanders, as they allow the ninth-most rushing yards to quarterbacks of any team. This, combined with Jones' rushing ability, is what has given him so much success against them on the ground in the last few meetings.

The Giants may lose this game, but win or lose, I believe Jones will have a big day on the ground. He has found his way on the ground against this Commander's team in their recent meetings, and I don't see why it should be any different tonight. Jones seems to get more and more comfortable keeping the ball in his hands every time he is on the field. This line looks too low, so I am backing Jones to pass this line of 29.5 tonight.
