Tennessee Titans vs Houston Texans Prediction
The Titans come into this game in need of a win. They saw themselves fall out of first place in the AFC South for the first time this season on Thursday night. The Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the New York Jets, and the Jags currently own the tiebreaker over the Titans. Tennessee can regain first place, however, today with a win over the Texans.
Tennessee got more bad this news this week when it was revealed that starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill would miss the rest of the season. That means that they will turn to rookie quarterback Malik Willis. Willis has seen some time this season, including a start versus these Texans. Willis has looked up and down, but Tennessee is confident in the rookie signal caller.
Houston comes into this game supporting a record of 1-12-1. That is the worst record in football, and it appears that the Texans are in full tank mode. Despite the poor record, the Texans took the Chiefs to overtime last week and nearly knocked off the Dallas Cowboys the week prior. They will look to play the role of the grinch today and spoil Christmas for the Titans.
I am backing the Titans on the -3 line. It might be 3.5 at some places now, so I would buy the hook if I had to. I simply can not pass up this sort of a line at home for Tennessee. I understand that the Titans have struggled as of late, and they have a rookie quarterback starting, but we are talking about the Houston Texans here.
Houston is literally trying to lose games right now to get the number one overall pick. Houston has nothing to play for today, while Tennessee has everything to play for. I trust that Mike Vrabel will have his team well-prepared this afternoon, and I trust that the Titans will do enough to get the cover and win today.
