WeBeatTheSpreads' Premium Packers vs. Lions: Prop Pick for Sunday Night Football

With Week 18 closing out the regular season, there are many incentives in play. Yesterday, we saw both Christian Kirk and Zay Jones hit incentives as the Jaguars clinched a playoff spot. Today, there are many more intriguing spots, including one in the Sunday Night Football matchup between the Packers and Lions that may decide who gets the last spot in the NFC playoff bracket. Of course, it's never good to blindly bet on player incentives, but there are definitely good spots to back them, and this looks like one. The particular player in discussion is Lion's receiver, Kalif Raymond.

Kalif Raymond is in his sixth year in the NFL, and he has had the best two years of his career so far with the Lions. After not breaking 200 receiving yards in one season over the first four years of his career, he has combined for over 1,100 yards in his two seasons with the Lions. Although Raymond is not a listed starter when the team is fully healthy, he has taken advantage of the situations he's been put in this season. DJ Chark and Josh Reynolds have both missed multiple games this season, and Raymond has filled in nicely, even landing second on the team with 550 receiving yards behind Amon-Ra St. Brown. Despite being second on the team in receiving yards, his line is set at 24.5 yards for tonight. This is because he is technically a second-stringer when the receiving core is healthy, and they are tonight.

Although Raymond will not see the snaps he has been when his teammates have been injured, I still like him to hit his number tonight. While he technically has two incentives tonight, his $125,000 bonus if he gets 100 more yards tonight seems a bit out of reach. However, his incentive to get two receptions for $125,000 is much more doable. Raymond's average on the season is 12.8 yards per catch, which means two receptions should put him over this number. Also helping his case is that the Packer's best cornerbacks, Jaire Alexander, and Rasul Douglas, will be covering Amon-Ra St. Brown and D.J. Chark for most of the game. Raymond should get many one-on-one opportunities for the snaps he does play.

Kalif Raymond has been getting hot to end the season, as he has gone three straight games with 40+ yards, and he had 50+ in two of those. His hands have also been good, hauling in nine of his 10 targets over the last three games without a drop. In fact, his 74% reception-to-target ratio is the best of any receiver with over 25 targets this season on the team. This reliability on his hands will make him a dark horse for a big play tonight, with eyes on the starting receivers. Also, helping matters is the fact that the Lions are underdogs, meaning if they are losing late in the game, they will be forced into more passing situations, which always helps receiving props. With the incentive on the table, Raymond should be able to hit the low number of 24.5 yards. Heck, maybe he even hits 100+ yards for double the bonus! But we just need a quarter of that.
