The Seattle Seahawks sneaked their way into the playoffs last weekend with a win over the Los Angeles Rams. Seattle's win over the Rams wasn't enough, but the Lions defeating the Packers put the Seahawks over the top.

Geno Smith has led the Seahawks to the postseason. Who would've ever thought? He'll take on Mr. Irrelevent, Brock Purdy, and the San Francisco 49ers. Again, who would've ever thought?

We've got a rookie quarterback drafted last and Geno Smith playing in a rivalry wild-card matchup in the postseason in 2023. It seriously doesn't get any better than this.

But I must acknowledge that the 49ers went 13-4 while the Seahawks finished the regular season at 9-8. Seattle also lost both games to the 49ers earlier this year.

Will the Seahawks have enough in the tank to knock off the 49ers on Saturday?

San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks Prediction

The Seattle Seahawks earned a playoff bid with two straight wins over the New York Jets and Los Angeles Rams.

Both games were won at home. However, to start the playoffs, the Seahawks will hit the road and take on the 49ers.

San Francisco has been rolling recently. They've won ten straight games since losing to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 49ers traded for Christian McCaffrey before their game against the Chiefs. Once McCaffrey got situated and was used more frequently, the 49ers haven't looked back, winning ten straight games.

San Francisco has needed three different quarterbacks this season. But no matter who is out there, the 49ers always find a way. Earlier this season, Trey Lance went down with a season-ending injury. Then Jimmy Garoppolo got hurt, leaving the 49ers no other option but to start Brock Purdy.

But Purdy has surprised. He hasn't lost a game as a starting quarterback, and even with Garoppolo healthy, Purdy would keep the job toward the end of the playoffs.

Purdy has a 65.6 QBR with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. He's also got a lot of talent around him, including McCaffrey, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk. The offense looks incredible, with Deebo Samuel and Elijah Mitchell back from injuries.

Plus, the 49ers have one of the best defenses in the league. They rarely miss tackles, have an incredible secondary, and are above average on the scrimmage.

Seattle's been getting sensational play out of Geno Smith. He's added 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions and broke the franchise's single-season passing record. He's also joined by Kenneth Walker III, who has rushed for nine touchdowns and over 1,000 yards in his rookie season.

However, Seattle only scored 13 points against the 49ers at home and managed just seven points on the road. This game will be on the road, and the 49ers will be ready for Seattle's offense.

The spread is a bit too high for me. The 49ers are giving 10.5 points. The Niners will score points but don't expect this game to be an offensive frenzy.
