NFL Player Props Week 2: Top Anytime TD Scorer Bets

NFL Week 2 action returns, which means it's time to place bets on anytime touchdown scorer props. NFL handicapper Matt MacKay is here with his best anytime touchdown scorer bets during the second weekend of the 2023 NFL season.

NFL Player Props Week 2: Top Anytime TD Scorer Bets

We've recorded one week of touchdown scorers in the books, starting off the season 1-4 with our Week 1 anytime touchdown scorer prop bets. Brian Robinson Jr., in his second year with the Commanders, caught a seven-yard reception to cash his +118 anytime touchdown scorer odds against a stingy Cardinals defense. Unfortunately, none of the remaining four players, Jaylen Waddle, Amari Cooper, Adam Thielen, or Dalton Schultz, found the end zone to increase our bankroll.

This time around, we're getting another full slate of games in Week 2, with a lot of juicy matchups to exploit. We've only seen one week, but now we know some of the tendencies that coordinators and coaches will deploy in certain scenarios, helping us get a feel for how to efficiently wager our money on anytime touchdown scorers.

There are a ton of games with low implied point totals in Week 2. The matchups oddsmakers expect to see the most points scored, and therefore, the potential for the most touchdowns, includes Kansas City vs. Jacksonville, Seattle vs. Detroit, and Las Vegas vs. Buffalo. All three of these games have a point total set at 47.5 or higher, while there are a ton of games at 39.5 total points or less. While these games aren't on our banned list, it's much harder to identify potential touchdown scorers, so there may be fewer players selected from matchups like New York Jets vs. Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders vs. Denver Broncos.

NFL handicapper Matt MacKay gives us six anytime touchdown scorer props to wager ahead of a jam-packed Week 2 slate.

Best NFL Week 2 Anytime TD Bets

Travis Kelce Anytime Touchdown Scorer (-135) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

The return of Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce should immediately boost Patrick Mahomes' production on the road against the Jaguars. After a disappointing opening loss to the Lions on banner night, expect Kansas City to be rolling early and often on offense, with Kelce feasting on targets. Kelce recorded three receiving touchdowns against the Jaguars in 2022, including two in their AFC Divisional matchup, all three occurring inside of the ten-yard line. At -135 odds, we're paying a bit of juice, but this is the lock of the week for anytime touchdown scorers, so make sure to bet a few units on Kelce in a favorable matchup during his first game back from a hyperextended knee.

James Cook Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+105) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

Buffalo struggled in Week 1 during their overtime collapse against the Jets, but second-year running back James Cook looked solid. Cook handled 54 percent of carries for the Bills, while earning a 15 percent target share, which was second-highest on the team behind only Stefon Diggs. There are concerns about Josh Allen stealing valuable goal-line touches from Cook, but against the Raiders defense, which surrendered 20 touchdowns last season, Cook is in line to score his fifth career rushing touchdown on Sunday afternoon in Orchard Park. +105 is nice value, so let's wager two or three units on Cook to find the end zone in a plus-matchup.

Anthony Richardson Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+160) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

The debut of Anthony Richardson went well despite the loss at home to a divisional opponent. Richardson, often criticized for his short-distance accuracy, accounted for two total touchdowns, including a screen to WR1 Michael Pittman Jr., who took it to the house. However, Richardson's blend of size, power, and speed makes him an asset in Shane Steichen's RPO scheme, which we saw during Richardson's quarterback draw at the goal line, easily navigating his way into the end zone for his first career rushing touchdown against the Jaguars. Houston's defense is good, but they surrendered three rushing touchdowns in the red zone to Baltimore last week, so assuming the Colts can move the ball like they did against the Jaguars, Richardson profiles as another anytime touchdown scorer in Week 2. Let's wager two units on Richardson's +160 anytime touchdown scorer odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Tyler Allgeier Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+175) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

All of the hype around Bijan Robinson has put Tyler Allgeier on the back burner, but not for Falcons Head Coach Arthur Smith. Allgeier handled 58 percent of the rush share, compared to 38 percent for Robinson, while also earning four red zone carries, turning those into two rushing touchdowns against the Carolina Panthers. Allgeier gets another good matchup against the Green Bay Packers run defense at home in Week 2. The Packers were 26th against the run last season, giving up 18 rushing touchdowns, so behind the highly-paid Falcons offensive line, Allgeier could easily get another two on Sunday. For now, let's stick to betting a couple units on his anytime touchdown scorer odds at +175.

Zay Flowers Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+280) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

All of the preseason and training camp hype was justified with Zay Flowers' performance against Houston in Week 1. The rookie wideout commanded a ridiculous 47 percent target share, showcasing his burst and speed, while moving the Ravens into scoring position, where they cashed in three rushing touchdowns. Flowers gets the Bengals on the road, who only gave up 17 receiving touchdowns in 2022, ranked third-best. However, several pieces in the Bengals secondary left this offseason, including safety Jessie Bates III, so I expect Flowers to continue earning a high target share, including in the red zone, where he recorded three targets in Week 1. +280 is great value to acquire, so let's wager a unit on Flowers to score his first career touchdown against the Bengals on Sunday.

Tyler Higbee Anytime Touchdown Scorer (+350) Click here to see which sportsbook has the best odds for this pick

The Rams face the 49ers in an NFC West showdown at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, which means we're likely to see the Rams' TE1, Tyler Higbee, find the end zone. Higbee has 20 career touchdowns, including four against San Francisco. The 49ers have a top-three defense, but its pass defense, especially the secondary, can cough up chunk plays and score possessions through the air. Higbee was quiet in Week 1, as Puka Nacua and TuTu Atwell garnered nearly all of the targets from Matthew Stafford. However, Nacua is now dealing with an oblique injury, so even if he's on the field, the Rams will need to get the ball out quickly to avoid the relentless pressure from the 49ers' front seven. This means Higbee, running out of the slot or as an in-line tight end, will be a security blanket for Stafford to funnel targets. +350 odds is fantastic value, so let's wager a unit on Higbee scoring his first touchdown of the 2023 season during Sunday's late afternoon slate.
