Green Bay Packers Jordan Love

New Orleans Saints vs. Green Bay Packers Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Jordan Love, Packers Dominate at Lambeau?

The New Orleans Saints travel north to take on the Green Bay Packers in Wisconsin this Sunday. Can Jordan Love and the Packers dominate at Lambeau Field? Matt MacKay answers.

New Orleans Saints vs. Green Bay Packers Prediction, Pick, Odds: Can Jordan Love, Packers Dominate at Lambeau?

The New Orleans Saints and Green Bay Packers are both in a new era of their respective franchises, with Derek Carr leading the Saints to a 2-0 record, while Jordan Love has kept the Packers competitive in both of their first games played this season.

Carr didn't look very good against Carolina, but he did enough to win the game, while he tossed a late touchdown against Tennessee to win by one point at home in Week 1. Love dominated the Bears during his first career start, plus it was on the road, but he blew a lead against the Falcons in Week 2 despite throwing three touchdown passes.

Now, Love and the Packers get to play their first home game at Lambeau Field this season, welcoming a gritty Saints team that has a stout defense and quality weapons within its offensive personnel. The Packers are dealing with hamstring injuries to their primary offensive weapons, Aaron Jones and Christian Watson, but their role players stepped up in Week 2 to showcase the depth of its offense.

Will the Saints march into Lambeau and seize a commanding 3-0 record? Or will the Packers defend their home field during their first game in front of Green Bay fans during the Love era? NFL handicapper Matt MacKay is here with his latest prediction and pick for Saints vs. Packers.

New Orleans Saints vs. Green Bay Packers Prediction

Oddsmakers anticipate a tight contest between the Saints and Packers this weekend, with Green Bay laying 1.5 points at Lambeau, with a low point total set at 42.5. The last time these teams played each other, Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees were QB1, so this is definitely a different game to handicap based on all of the changes made since Week 1 of the 2021 NFL season.

The Saints are on a four-game winning streak against NFC North opponents on the road, while the Packers have failed to cover the spread as favorites against NFC South teams. However, Green Bay has won 10 straight home openers at Lambeau, albeit during the Rodgers era. The Packers are also 6-1 ATS in their last seven games, getting valued as underdogs in both of their first two games this season, even against the struggling Bears.

New Orleans hasn't won pretty, but wins are wins. Carr needs to clean up his mistakes to avoid falling into a deficit, but the expected debut of rookie running back Kendre Miller gives the Saints' offense an added boost following Jamaal Williams' hamstring injury suffered on Monday Night Football. Alvin Kamara's suspension means we'll see a blend of Miller and Tony Jones Jr. in the Saints' backfield, plus plenty of Taysom Hill.

The Packers have allowed 333 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns, ranked fourth-most in the league for rushing yards allowed, while ranking 17th in passing yards allowed, with two receiving touchdowns. Michael Thomas, Chris Olave, and Rasheed Shahid form a strong, wide receiving corps for Carr to target, but he may be forced to turn to the run game behind an underrated Saints offensive line.

The Saints have won two of the past three matchups SU, but I'm expecting the Packers to successfully defend Lambeau Field, especially if they get wideout Christian Watson and RB1 Aaron Jones back into the lineup. Let's lock in Packers moneyline odds at -122 on FanDuel Sportsbook.
