The Green Bay Packers and the Las Vegas Raiders will play the final game on the Week 5 NFL slate. Will Jordan Love and the Packers dominate on Monday? NFL handicapper Matt MacKay gives his prediction and pick for Packers vs. Raiders.
ANALYSIS

Green Bay Packers vs. Las Vegas Raiders Prediction, Pick, Odds: Will Jordan Love, Packers Dominate?

Green Bay and Las Vegas will play the final game on the Week 5 NFL slate, with the Raiders currently favored -1 ATS at home.

It's been a rough start to the Raiders' season. They pulled off an outright win in Denver 17-16 in Week 1 with a pair of Jakobi Meyers touchdowns, but since then, it's been mostly bad football played. A prime time home loss to the Steelers, plus falling behind early against the Bills and Chargers, have Las Vegas staring down a 1-4 record, including 0-3 at home if they lose to Green Bay.

The Packers are an intriguing team to assess. Jordan Love looked terrible against a good Detroit defense in Week 4, following an impressive 18-point fourth quarter comeback to beat the New Orleans Saints in Week 3. Green Bay has alternated wins and losses this season, blowing the lead against the Falcons on the road.

There is promise to this Packers team, but injuries have bit them hard early, including the loss of star left tackle, David Bakhtiari, who is currently placed on IR. Multiple other offensive line injuries leaves Love susceptible to pressure in the pocket, which we all watched during Detroit's lopsided rout in prime time in Lambeau a week ago.

Can the Packers bounce back with their second road win of the season to improve to 3-2 outright? Or will the Raiders overcome being +1 ATS at home with one of the league's worst pass defenses? NFL handicapper Matt MacKay gives us his latest prediction and pick for Packers vs. Raiders.

Green Bay Packers vs. Las Vegas Raiders Prediction

Josh Jacobs finally got going in Week 4, which is an encouraging sign for the Raiders' offense. Davante Adams has also been effective, plus it's a revenge game for him against the Packers. He could wind up facing Green Bay cornerback, Jaire Alexander, who he played with during his time with the Packers, creating a highly entertaining matchup to watch if Alexander is cleared to play despite his questionable tag.

Jimmy Garoppolo didn't play in Week 4 due to a concussion and is still questionable. Rookie quarterback Aidan O'Connell filled in fine, but the Raiders had to mount a late comeback effort to even get within a touchdown of the Chargers in Week 4. Adams and Jacobs are the focal point of Las Vegas' offense, but Green Bay ranks top-12 in touchdown percentage allowed on pass attempts (3.1%), while they are much worse against the run. David Montgomery tore them up for three touchdowns alone in Week 4, which is why they are allowing 4.5 YPC and five rushing touchdowns to running backs, compared to only four receiving touchdowns.

Jacobs will need to be dominant to overcome the Raiders' top-heavy offense, even with Garoppolo back in the lineup, which is yet to be determined. Meanwhile, the Packers most explosive offensive weapons, running back Aaron Jones and wideout Christian Watson, are both questionable due to lingering hamstring injuries. However, both played in Week 4, as Watson seized his first touchdown of the season during his first game back.

Green Bay has won each of its last six Monday Night Football games, covered the spread in each of their last four road games, and the Raiders' last five games have all gone under the point total line. FanDuel has the point total line set to 44.5, which feels tricky to assess, so let's avoid this line when wagering this interconference matchup. We're only getting a one-point spread, indicating oddsmakers feel that this will be a tightly contested game, but there's little reason for optimism backing the Raiders in this spot.

Jacobs could have a 100-yard, two touchdown game, but it won't be enough to overcome the Packers' pass defense and its passing offense, which likes to take deep shots and will be able to achieve that in a plus-matchup. Green Bay has a 6.1 touchdown percentage on passing plays, ranked fifth-highest in the league, and wideout Romeo Doubs has been a game-wrecker for the Packers, even with Watson's return in Week 4. Let's hammer the Packers' moneyline odds at -102.
