He has gotten off to a fast start in his rookie season with the Miami Dolphins as he leads all running backs in explosive run rate, missed tackles per attempt, and yards after contact per attempt. After handling just one carry through the first two weeks of the season he has seen an increased workload and has a rushing long of 50+ yards in back to back games.
In an important matchup against the division rival Buffalo Bills, Achane played 60% of Miami’s offensive snaps. His increase in play time doesn’t come as a surprise because of how effective he’s been with his touches.
This week he faces a New York Giants run defense that ranks 22nd in DVOA and has allowed a run of 18+ yards in all four games. The game script should favor the run as the Dolphins come into this matchup as 12 point home favorites. Expect Achane to break off a big play and take the over on his longest rush.
