The Raiders have been atrocious this season. People are starting to ask questions like should they tank for Caleb Williams, or was letting Derek Carr leave a mistake? There are even reports circulating that the Raiders wanted to add Tom Brady in the offseason, and Jimmy Garoppolo wasn’t even the second option for Las Vegas, Derek Carr was. If all this is true, there is more drama behind the scenes in that Raiders locker room than we even know. Tonight, Jimmy G has an opportunity to silence all the doubters as he returns to the team after recovering from a back injury. Will we see a vintage Jimmy G performance under the brightest of lights on Monday Night Football tonight, or will be continue to let down his new team?

The Raiders have disappointed so far in 2023, but that doesn’t mean Jimmy G can’t turn it around. At 3-4, it isn’t too late for the Raiders this season. They just need a big win to give themselves and their veteran QB some confidence. Tonight could be the night we see the vision of this offense finally come to fruition. Although I will be looking to back the Raiders on the spread, I’ve got my eyes on a plus-money player prop for tonight’s MNF contest.
Jimmy Garoppolo has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns this season. It hasn’t been pretty out there for the “pretty-boy” quarterback in his first season with the Raiders, but Jimmy G has an opportunity to hit the reset button tonight after missing some time recovering from injury. It’s now or never for Jimmy G, and what better time for the veteran to shine than Monday Night Football? He’s dominated on Monday nights in his career, throwing for twelve touchdowns and only two interceptions in seven games. His passer rating is above 100 on Mondays, a crazy stat that shouldn’t get swept under the rug. Simply put, Jimmy G loves playing in the spotlight, and he has a great opportunity against a poor secondary to change the narrative on the 2023 season tonight.
If you look at Jimmy Garoppolo’s interception prop, the odds on him to throw a pick are almost -200. He’s been a pick-machine so far this season, but tonight he has a chance to buck the trend. I’m sure the Raiders' offensive game plan won’t be to throw the ball 50 times in this game, but even if it is, Jimmy G has been one of the most accurate QB’s in the NFL this season in regards to completion percentage. They need to stop letting him air the ball out downfield. I’m sure that’s been a talking point for the offense as he’s been prepping for his return. Expect the Raiders to ease Jimmy back in with plenty of shorter passes and quick routes from Adams and Meyers tonight. It doesn’t hurt that the Lions have one of the most overrated secondaries in football, and have only recorded six interceptions this season. Without Darius Slay the last couple of seasons, the Lions have struggled to fill the void finding a new ball-hawk.
This play isn’t for the faint of heart, but in my eyes, there’s too much value on Jimmy G not to throw an interception tonight. You can bet this at (+145) on the books, which is great value against a secondary that’s struggled to come up with turnovers this season. If you’re into narrative plays, you’ll enjoy hearing this: Jimmy Garoppolo is going to do whatever he can to stay out of the turnover column on the stat-sheet tonight. I’m sure his 7/8 touchdown to interception ratio has been on his mind for weeks as he’s waited patiently to make his return under center. Back Jimmy G to do what he was paid to do when the Raiders brought him in this off-season— keeping the ball secure and hitting his star receivers on plenty of quick routes.
