Titans vs. Steelers Prediction
The Tennessee Titans are looking to get back to .500 on Thursday.
With Ryan Tannehill doubtful for Thursday Night Football, the Titans will likely give Will Levis his second straight start of the season.
Levis helped the Titans to a 28-23 win over the Falcons with four touchdown passes on 19 completions. He threw for 238 yards in his debut, and added three touchdowns to DeAndre Hopkins.
Ryan Tannehill only had two passing touchdowns, with six interceptions on 158 passing attempts.
Therefore, the Titans' offense is looking slightly better right now. The run game has always been excellent between Derrick Henry and Tyjae Spears. But now the defenses have to start respecting the passing game a little bit more.
Levis showed off his arm and added multiple big plays down the field.
While Pittsburgh's defense gets a solid rep. Minkah Fitzpatrick won't be available due to an injury. Without him, the secondary doesn't really look all that appealing. The passing defense has allowed 264.3 yards in the air, and the unit as a whole has allowed more than 400 yards per game.
The Steelers will rush the passer well. They could force the rookie Levis into some mistakes. But Pittsburgh's defense has been worse than in previous years.
On the other hand, the Steelers will start Kenny Pickett under center. He injured his ribs last week, and was replaced by Mitch Trubisky. However, he says he's good to go for this game.
On little rest, I'd be a bit cautious. The Steelers have only earned 292 yards per game on offense this season. With the pass protection constantly breaking down and Pickett potentially not 100%, the Steelers' offense could struggle against the Titans.
Tennessee's defense hasn't played as well as in previous years, either. However, they've at least held teams to 107.4 yards per game on the ground. The Steelers typically struggle to run the ball. Therefore, they'll have to rely on Pickett's arm.
Coming off a rib injury on Sunday, I'm not interested in backing the Steelers. Give me the Titans +3.
