Los Angeles Chargers vs. New York Jets Prop Pick: Will Breece Hall Excel in Passing Game on MNF?
The Jets and Chargers close out week nine of the NFL with a matchup in MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Jets have now won three games in a row and find themselves in the hunt in the AFC East, a statement no one thought would be true when Aaron Rodgers went out in week one with an Achilles tear. The Chargers enter with a worse 3-4 record but did blow out the Bears last week to keep their pulse alive in the AFC West hunt. With Zach Wilson facing off against Justin Herbert, what is the best play in this primetime matchup?

Los Angeles Chargers vs. New York Jets Prediction
The player I'm honing in on for a big game is Breece Hall. Breece Hall tore his ACL last season and was out for the rest of the season, and has now impressed since returning in 2023. Hall did not start out the season at his usual snap count, which was expected after returning from an ACL injury, but he has since picked up his workload and is now back to 100%. Hall only played around 30-40% of snaps up until Week 5, when he hit above 50% for the first time. After last week's performance, Hall has now played above 60% of snaps in back-to-back weeks, and he should be near 70% tonight, with Cook still getting some reps in the backfield.
We got an early glimpse of Hall as an explosive runner last season before the injury, as he had 5.8 yards per carry with at least one run of 14+ yards in every game, and he is getting back to that form this season. He is coming off a rough game on the ground against the Giants where he had 17 yards on 12 carries, but he also had six receptions on nine targets for 76 yards. That is where I'm focusing tonight.
Hall didn't show his talent through the air much in his shortened rookie year, but he has been used as the main receiving back for the Jets in year two, especially as he is getting healthier. Hall has logged four straight games with 3+ receptions, and he has had 54 and 76 receiving yards over his last two games respectively.
I think last week's game was a good indicator of what we could see again this week. Wilson was making a lot of short throws and completing easy passes, something that has been the game plan for the Jets a lot this year. Everyone knows the struggles with Zach Wilson, which is why Aaron Rodgers was brought in in the first place, and getting Wilson into the game with easy completions to tight ends and running backs is the answer to keep their drives going. Wilson has a good connection with Garrett Wilson, but any time he's not the target, those short routes to Conklin and Hall are key. I think we see them a lot tonight.
The strength of this Chargers' defense is Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa. They are not easy to block. The Jets are also down a few linemen, including a pair of tackles and a guard. They have a makeshift offensive line that may get beaten by Bosa and Mack a lot. That means on passing downs, Wilson may have to use his emergency dump-off guy and hit Hall on plays that weren't originally designed to go to him. He will also have a few designed screens and short routes on third and short, because running it up the middle will be tough against the Chargers. Their weakness is the secondary. Hall could easily have eight or nine targets again and fly over 21.5 receiving yards. In fact, I'm counting on it, because he's tonight's max play.
