Denver Broncos vs. Buffalo Bills Prediction
The Bills enter this matchup with the Broncos with a record of 5-4, an underwhelming status when you consider the amount of talent they have on their roster. Buffalo has had a ton of injuries to some key players on both sides of the ball, but that is no excuse for their rather slow start in the first half of the season.
Last week against the Bengals, The Bills were outgained by nearly 100 yards and turned the ball over twice in a tough road loss. One thing that the Bills have done extremely well this season is bounce back after a loss. The Bills are 3-0 straight up after a loss, and this matchup tonight is very similar to the two other spots that the Bills have been in this season.
After a Week 1 road loss to the Jets, the Bills came back home and throttled the Raiders 38-10 as 7-point favorites (much like they are tonight). Then a bit later in the season, after a road loss to the Patriots as a touchdown favorite, they came back home against the Bucs with a strong first half effort and won the game, but did not cover after a late Bucs backdoor touchdown.
In their home games, the Bills were up 21-10 at halftime against the Raiders, 31-14 at halftime against the Dolphins, and 17-10 at halftime against the Bucs. These were all games where the Bills were home favorites and coming off fairly lackluster performances, much like they are tonight coming off a poor showing last week against the Bengals. The Broncos have also been playing better ball lately, which I believe has brought this spread down even more. In two games as a substantial road underdog to this point, the Broncos got blown out by the Dolphins 70-20, and were down 13-0 at halftime on the road in Kansas City before scoring a late TD to land a push on the spread.
In my opinion, this is a fantastic spot for the Bills to put together a full effort in all three phases. I think the Bills win and cover the full game, but most of all, I believe they get off to a great start and take at least a touchdown lead into halftime tonight. With that being said, I am rolling with Bills first half -4 at -112 odds for 1.5 units as my most confident NFL play of the day for tonight's action.
