Tonight is going to be a cold one in Kansas City. Game time weather is expected to be -4 degrees, which is quite concerning. Will this benefit any team in particular? Or no one at all? Let's get into it.
The Dolphins are quite banged up at this point of the season. Xavien Howard is out, Raheem Mostert is questionable, along with Jaylen Waddle, Jevon Holland, and DeShon Elliot. I expect most of these guys to play as this is a playoff game, but I am not sure if they will be 100%. The Dolphins are 1st in yards per game with 412.1, as well as passing yards where they average 265.5 per game. With Jaylen Waddle going to be a little banged up if he plays, I fully expect Tyreek Hill to have a monster game tonight getting a load of yards tonight for the offense as he returns to Kansas City in a revenge game for him. Let's not forget about the Dolphins rushing game as well. De'Von Achane has been a great pickup for Miami, and if Mostert plays tonight, I think the Dolphins will dominate on the ground as this Chiefs defense has been sub-par at defending the run.
The Chiefs are a very good home team, however I am not sure that this team is what it has been in the past. This year, they are 5-4 at Arrowhead Stadium this year, which is quite concerning from where they have been during this Mahomes dynasty. I think the weather in tonight's matchup is going to benefit the Dolphins more than the Chiefs. The Dolphins defense struggles to defend the pass, which makes up around 68% of the teams total offense for the Chiefs. The weather will effect the game plan for both teams, but it will be more difficult the throw the ball tonight.
Expect the Dolphins to control this game tonight. I think that they ground and pound this Chiefs defense and sneak in a few big plays to Tyreek Hill. I think the Dolphins will make it hard for the Chiefs defense to get off the field tonight, as I expect them to dominate the time of possession. If Miami can take care of the ball and shut down Pacheco and these Chiefs running backs, I think that they have a shot to win. I think this game is going to be a lot closer than most people think.
