Los Angeles Rams vs. Detroit Lions Prediction
The storyline could not be better. Longtime quarterback returns to Ford Field after playing with the Lions for 12 years. Matthew Stafford and his 10-7 Rams meet the Lions in this Wildcard playoff game. This is the first playoff game the Lions have hosted in Ford Field. This place will be rocking! I think the Lions win this game and it starts with their offense on the ground. The Lions are 5th in rushing yards per game in the league with the two-headed monsters of David Montgomery and Jamir Gibbs. Both running backs have been great additions to this offense, especially Gibbs. Gibbs is an explosive running back that is great with his hands out of the backfield. These two running backs are nightmares for opposing defensive coordinators. But, let's not forget about their passing game. The Lions are 2nd in the league in passing yards led by Amon-Ra St. Brown and rookie Sam LaPorta. Although LaPorta is questionable tonight, I expect him to play and have a huge impact tonight versus this banged up Rams team.
The Rams have struggled to defend the pass this year giving up 231.1 yards per game. Furthermore, this team has sturggled to get off the field on 3rd downs. Opposing offenses convert on 3rd down at a rate of 38.6% which is 18th in the league for the Rams defense. With the Rams offense being a powerhouse for them this year, we all know the defense wins games. I think the Lions offense is too explosive for this Rams team, and I think the crowd makes in impact tonight, especially on those 3rd down and long plays for the Rams. Expect to see the Lions take control of this game with the time of possession and milk the clock as they ground and pound this Rams defense.
