The Buccaneers put a beatdown on the Philadelphia Eagles last week, but was that really that impressive, or were the Eagles just dead men walking? I’m not saying Baker Mayfield and the Bucs don’t deserve their flowers for getting to this point; they do. That doesn’t mean we have to continue to back every trendy underdog in the playoffs though, either.
We saw what happened to both trendy, public underdogs on Saturday: one got annihilated, and the other lost in heartbreaking fashion. I’m willing to bet we see much of the same in the first game of Sunday’s doubleheader. The Lions are a great moneyline parlay piece, but that’s not what this article is about. Let’s dive into the straight bet you need to take in this game.
If you bet the over in both games yesterday, you didn’t win any bets. I typically don’t like to bet overs in playoff games (because they tend to go under), but I can’t resist this total. These two teams played against each other a couple of months ago. The Lions won that game 20-6 in Tampa Bay. The total in that game back in October was 43.5.
Isn’t it strange to see the total in round two of this contest nearly a full touchdown higher than it was in October when the game soared under? I certainly think it’s an interesting line, especially considering this is a playoff game. Points come at a premium in the postseason; everyone knows that.
The total for Jared Goff versus Baker Mayfield part 2 opened up at 47, but it’s currently sitting around 50 depending on which book you use. Bet this over before the total gets any higher. Both offenses will shine on turf against poor pass defenses. Goff and Baker have an opportunity to put on a show to start off Sunday’s doubleheader, and with these two gents playing some of the best football of their careers this season, I’m willing to bet they play great tonight.
