Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers Prediction

The Lions have turned into America's team during this postseason run.

Before this season, it had been three decades plus since the Lions won a playoff game.

Tonight, they can punch their first ticket to the Super Bowl in franchise history.

The Lions beat the Rams in the first round in a wire-to-wire victory.

Detroit followed that win up with a lopsided victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

This will be the Lion's first road test of the postseason as they face what many believe to be the best team in football.

Jared Goff leads the Detroit offense. The former first overall pick turned in a strong campaign, throwing for 4,575 yards, 30 touchdowns, and twelve interceptions. Goff has yet to turn the ball over in the postseason.

Detroit has one of the best backfields in football, featuring veteran David Montgomery and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs. Montgomery rushed for 1,015 yards and 13 touchdowns, while Gibbs scampered for 945 yards and ten touchdowns.

Amon-Ra St. Brown has been the favorite target of Goff all season. The Sun god led the team with 1,515 yards and ten touchdowns.

The Lions defense ranked 23rd in points allowed per game (23.2).

San Francisco will be playing in their third straight NFC Championship.

The 49ers have lost the last two.

The last time the Niners won the Super Bowl was in 1994, when they defeated the San Diego Chargers.

San Francisco nearly lost a week ago vs the Green Bay Packers.

Packers kicker Anders Carlson missed a field goal late that could have put the Packers up by a touchdown.

San Francisco quickly took advantage and scored a game-winning touchdown on the next drive.

Brock Purdy leads the 49ers offensive attack. Purdy struggled a week ago but delivered a strong season, throwing for 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Christian McCaffrey is the best running back in football. CMC is a finalist to win MVP, as he rushed for 1,459 yards and 14 touchdowns this season. Additionally, he racked up 567 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

Brandon Aiyuk was the favorite target of Purdy, leading the team with 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns.

Deebo Samuel was injured last week but is cleared to play today, which is a big deal for the 49ers, who are 8-9 without Samuel since he entered the league.

The 49ers defense ranks third in points allowed per game (17.7).

Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers Pick

San Francisco could not have played much worse last week and still found a way to get the win.

Samuel being healthy is a big deal for this offense, which is at its best when he is on the field.

The Lions' defense is below average, specifically in the secondary.

I do not know how this Lions' defense will get consistent stops in this game.

On the flip side, the Niners' defense is one of the best in football, and they will limit the Lion's offense.
