The Niners are looking to put a stop to questions about Brock Purdy and their passing game that struggled to get going in their first two playoff games.
One guy who can help halt that is Brandon Aiyuk, the Niners' true deep threat. Aiyuk has enjoyed the best year of his career in 2023, and has taken over the 49ers receiving room. He smashed through his previous best of just over 1,000 yards in 2022, notching 1,442 and counting this year.
Aiyuk has seven 100+ yard games this year, but hasn't dominated the stat sheet as much in the playoffs. Will he be able to channel the previous big outings with everything on the line? Brandon Aiyuk Over 59.5 Receiving Yards (-115) (Bet $115 to Collect $215)
Brandon Aiyuk didn't have much going for him in the 2024 playoffs, until a fortuitous bounce came his way late in the NFC Championship game against the Lions. He was able to corral a deflection for a 51 yard gain, and later scored a touchdown in the game. That play may have reignited the successful season Aiyuk has turned in so far, and Purdy will be looking to him for help in the Super Bowl.
While the Niners may focus on the run game and feed Christian McCaffrey, they will need to lean on Aiyuk in passing situations. He has an impressive ability to get open across the middle, and can crush through this total early in the game.
The Chiefs have a strong passing defense and secondary, but they will struggle to contain the route-running and speed of Aiyuk for four quarters. The depth of the Niners' skill players will force them to focus their assets on Deebo Samuel and McCaffrey, leaving Aiyuk open to rack up yardage.
His reception total is set at 4.5 but +115, and the odds have slowly increased as the week has gone on. Sportsbooks aren't expecting him to get over that four catch hump, which is why we are taking him on the yards instead. On the contrary, his yards prop has ticked up several times since the opening, and is now listed at 60.5 on some books.
The movements suggest that Aiyuk may not have a ton of catches, but they'll be long gains that he extends with his speed. He had three grabs for 68 yards in the NFC title game, and a very similar outcome could be expected here. 4-5 catches for 70-80 yards is a very possible line for him, so let's side with the over on his yards here and bet on him to deliver on the biggest stage in Super Bowl LVIII.
