Week 1 Sunday in the NFL is finally here! I am extremely excited that the NFL is back, and have put together a longshot ladder play that I am really liking to kick things off for the year. I am keeping the risk on these light for Week 1, but I do really love both of these looks. The two players I am going to be taking in this parlay is Daniel Jones, QB for the New York Giants and Ladd McConkey, Rookie WR for the Los Angeles Chargers, and I am laddering their yards.
Week 1 NFL Parlay Picks
The first leg of these parlays are Daniel Jones to rush for 40+ and 50+ yards. Daniel Jones enters this year coming off a torn ACL. He is fully healthy and mentioned that the knee is feeling great. Jones has struggled so far in his career, and likely has one more season to prove that he is a starting QB in this league. His situation in New York this season looks better than in year prior. The Giants added Malik Nabers to go along with now healthy Wan'Dale Robinson and Jaylin Hyatt. This will be the best WR group he has had so far, and now Saquon Barkley is gone (Devin Singletary takes over as the RB1). I think this will open up more opportunities on the ground for Daniel Jones.
In 2022, Daniel Jones rushed for the 5th most yards amongst starting QBs, and I think we may see him return to that level of success on the ground this year. Jones has rushed for 40+ yards in five of his last seven healthy games, and was even more efficient when playing home games. Over his last 10 home games he averaged 52.4 rushing yards, going over 40+ yards in seven of his last 10 games (50+ in six of 10).
I have added on Ladd McConkey receiving yards as the 2nd leg of the parlay. I think Ladd has huge ladder potential this week, which is why I like him for both 50+ yards and 60+ yards as the two legs of each parlay. Los Angeles is very thin at WR this season after losing Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Jalen Guyton. They also lost a great pass catching back in Austin Ekeler and one of their other receivers, DJ Chark, just got added to the IL so they are extremely thin. Chargers OC Greg Roman said there are a lot of ways they plan to use Ladd this season, "I think he's a guy that we can definitely do some different things with...I think he's gonna be a bit of a Swiss Army Knife."
Per Derek Brown (FantasyPros), Ladd was in the 98th percentile in receiving grade and receiving grade vs. single coverage in college. He also ranked in the 91st percentile in separation percentage and yards per route run at Georgia. I think he shines in his 1st game in the NFL against the Raiders.
