Edmonton’s offense is built around Cody Fajardo and explosive running back Justin Rankin. Fajardo enters with 1,781 passing yards, nine touchdowns and four interceptions, including 70 consecutive attempts without a pick. Rankin has been the engine of the rushing attack and scored three touchdowns in the 40-17 win over Ottawa. Former Ohio State receiver Austin Mack, who played 11 NFL games for the New York Giants, gives Fajardo an established outside target alongside Joshua Cephus.
Saskatchewan counters with one of the CFL’s deepest skill groups. Trevor Harris has thrown multiple touchdown passes in every game, A.J. Ouellette is averaging 79 rushing yards per appearance and KeeSean Johnson leads the league with 16 second-down conversion catches. Johnson was a sixth-round NFL draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals, while Ouellette previously spent time with the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints. Samuel Emilus and Kian Schaffer-Baker complete a receiving corps capable of punishing Edmonton if Harris receives consistent protection.
Edmonton has responded well since its only loss, a 36-24 defeat against BC, beating Ottawa 40-17 and then surviving the Lions 19-17. Saskatchewan’s lone setback was a 40-34 home loss to Toronto, followed by victories over Ottawa and Hamilton, including a dominant 38-7 performance before its bye. The teams split two meetings last season, with Saskatchewan winning 21-18 before Edmonton answered 27-25, and the all-time regular-season series stands at 126-100-2 in Edmonton’s favor.
