Jaguars vs. Saints Prediction: Will Spencer Rattler, Saints Struggle to Put Up Points on Saturday Afternoon?

New Orleans is a slight home favorite, with the Saints -1.5 (-115), Jacksonville +1.5 (-105) and the total at only 35.5. Jacksonville went 13-4 and won the AFC South last season before losing 27-24 to Buffalo in the Wild Card round, while New Orleans finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs.

Jacksonville has already made its intentions clear. Liam Coen expects most veterans and starters to sit after receiving their primary competitive work in Thursday’s joint practice with New Orleans. Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars’ established first-team offense therefore should have little impact on Saturday’s total.

Jaguars vs. Saints Prediction

New Orleans is taking a similar approach. Kellen Moore said most Saints starters are expected to sit, and Spencer Rattler has been named the preseason starter at quarterback. That should leave large portions of the game to reserve offensive linemen, receivers and defensive backs on both sides.

The joint practice is important because both coaching staffs already received high-quality work against an unfamiliar opponent without needing to expose established starters to another full contact game. Jacksonville also enters with offensive-line depth concerns, creating another reason to expect conservative play-calling from the reserve offense.

A 35.5 total leaves little margin for a defensive touchdown or multiple short fields, but the expected personnel still points toward a slow game. Sustained drives become difficult when starters are removed and offensive-line combinations change every few series.

Jaguars vs. Saints Pick

There is not enough established quarterback or skill-position talent expected to play to project consistent scoring. With both teams protecting starters after a joint practice, this should become exactly the type of preseason game where punts and stalled drives outnumber explosive possessions.
