This is one of the most bittersweet weeks of the year. On one hand, it is British Open week! It's one of my favorite majors, one of the greatest traditions in the sport and it closes out major championship season. On the other hand, sadly it closes out major championship season and once play finishes on Sunday, we will be 259 days away from our next major championship. Yes, we have the FedEx Cup playoffs and the Presidents Cup in between to hold us over as well as other sports but it's just not the same, the four month stretch of Major Championship Golf is spectacular.

With that said, we have a lot to get into this week and I am ready to dive in. This is a pretty dead week overall with the MLB All Star break underway so we focus up early here on the Royal Troon Golf Club in South Ayrshire, Scotland. There is a lot of action I am looking to dive into this week but I want to start with a no brainer placement bet for me here and we are looking at Jordan Spieth for this one.
Spieth has had a rough season, the three time major champion has been missing cuts and battling the re-aggravated wrist injury a good bit this year. With that said, he is coming off of his best week of the year at the JDC and I think he rolls momentum into the Open. Since 2010, Jordan Speith has been the best golfer in Open Championships averaging 2.4 total strokes gained per round through 40 rounds. Since 2014, his second Open Start, he has finished inside the top 40 every single time and in the last six Opens has finished first, T9, T20, second, T8, and T23. I do not care about the rest of the year, as long as he makes the cut this is hitting.
