There's just no way I see this being a bad wager right now. Xander Schauffele has been one of the best golfers on the planet for the last three years, and this season he has been unbelievable. He does everything right, he does not make the big mistakes. He is in a position to win regularly, and when he doesn't, it is usually just because the putts aren't dropping. That has been a non issue lately, he has been unstoppable since the PGA Championship and has been playing spectacular golf all season long, no matter where he is.
The defending golf medalist is tied for the lead after two rounds with Tommy Fleetwood. Xander has made just three bogeys while nabbing 14 birdies over the first 36 holes. There is plenty of talent near the top of the board right now - Matsuyama and Tommy are tied for the lead, and in no way should they be overlooked. But even with the three-way tie as well as Rahm and Scheffler chasing, I feel like Xander is just poised to do this.
The gold medal was his first major victory in his career, but now that he has two major championships under his belt this season, he has all the confidence in the world. Schauffele knows he is in a position to go become the first American and golfer in history to win two Olympic gold medals for golf.
